I recently a bought an SXP from a member here and it came with some stick on fiber optic turkey sights. I have hunted with it, but eventually decided I want to get a better pair of removable turkey sights so I set to it.

The front sight was a long one and stuck on the rib with two sided tape but also found superglue under! Same with the rear sight. Looked like superglue was applied first and then immediately double sided tape. It's a disaster. I removed as much tape as I could as it was really stuck on (almost rock solid) and tried for hours to remove the superglue with acetone. No luck. Any recommendations on how to remove the superglue without drastic measures? I will probably have to reblue a part of the barrel or touch up after this is done.

Thanks.

Just a heads up not all nail polish has actone

X2. I would try "real" acetone from the hardware store. I would think that nail polish remover probably has a weaker concentration of acetone.

I am using this one.

will go by Home Depot and pick up some.

Thank you. I haven't but I can. I updated the pic in the first post. Can I use it on the blueing without damaging it?

That I don't know. You could try to find a spot that is hidden by the stock or handguard and try it there to test?

That says 100% pure acetone. I would be absolutely AMAZED if Home Depot sells something with a higher concentration. (as that would be impossible)

Acetone.....
Rob
I'm going at it with Acetone, Rob. Used a quarter of the bottle already. It almost feels like the glue has become baked on permanently! Feels like powder coated and dried to a sheen! Out of goo off like Suther suggested, going to get some and try that route among other suggestions - I had some success getting some glue off from in between the grooves on top of the rib using a scalpel as Magellan suggested and slowly go into each groove under a magnifying glass. I will try again some more tonight.
