Ruger PC9 Failure

I saw some reviews that the PC9 extractor starts to fail after 700-1000 rounds.

These were reviews from a few years ago and I was wondering if anyone on here has had these failures? Or did Ruger address this in later models?

I also saw at least one aftermarket solution to this problem.

Who has pumped 1000+ rounds through their PC9?

My extractor was faulty right out of the box. Ruger sent me a new extractor (which looked visually identical to the old one), and after replacing it I have not had a jam since,hundreds of rounds later. Call Ruger and get it sorted. Their aftermarket support is alright in my experience.

Anyone I know using the gun in 3gun has replaced it with the Mcarbo extractor.... bullseye North carries them. If they don’t have stock tandemkross also makes one and they ship to Canada from us address

I am at 1175 rounds through, mostly steel cased ammo. No failures yet. Have a mcarbo extractor, buffer, and pins on standby

I have two with at least 3000+ through them. No issues yet but I guess I will go buy a couple spare extractors now.

No that’s for the Ruger pcc, if it can be modified to fit the pc9 I’m not sure

Yeah I mean the PCC. I didn't realize the PC9 was the original one. Haven't paid enough attention until recently.

I only replaced because of this thread paranoid if it fails lol.

Replaced mine with the mcarbo because I was having a lot of issues after around the 1400/1500 round mark. Pmags also are not fantastic running in the carbine, same mags worked reliably in a handgun.

Replaced my extractor , and started using Glock factory mags and my problems went away.

l replaced mine do to FTE when shot in ipsc. Have installed the Mcarbo one, seems to work but hasn't been put the test.
