7 with the Model Seven

I have owned 2 Rem M7 223 rifles Neither shot very Good - so I sold them both- Bought a Rem M700 LVSF 204 Ruger and it Shoots VERY Well ! RJ
The original pencil barrel that came with the walnut stocked model 7 wasn't as accurate as I'd hoped. I bought it used off of here, can't remember... probably from you?! ;-)

Surprising as most Remingtons in 223 are very accurate ime.

Some nice pale coyotes there, congrats. Can you spot your shots with that light bullet?

Yes for sure.

Nice work!

You kill the barrel on a certain 223AI yet?

Thanks Rick. The 223ai wasn’t shooting the 75 Berger’s very well but I fixed it last summer with a 80gr Berger load. I haven’t had it out this year. Shooting this Model 7 40 gr setup and a Kimber PV 9 twist with 70 gr Bergers as well.

This is the 223AI that RickF refers to.

And what's left of the Pacnor 8 twist barrel on the 223AI

And the 12 twist Benchmark

I love seeing bores like that! Too many don’t get used. Have you a WAG on the number of rounds down that PN?

I am trying to wear out the factory barrel on my 223 Montana so I can rebarrel with a quicker twist, but 223 barrels last SOOO long! :)

By the way Benchmark and Pac Nor are still my favourite barrels. I have had close to a dozen PNs, and they have all been great. The silhouette shooters in the US Pacific Northwest almost to a man still run PNs. Benchmarks have come on strong in the last five years especially among Canadians, also great barrels. Both last a long time, don’t like to foul, no drama. Because of the ease in sourcing Benchmarks from Eakin we Canucks do tend to go that way the last couple years, but that’s simple logistics and no knock on Pac Nor.

I bought that rifle from you in February 2013 and have put 449 rounds down it. 90% 75 Berger’s at 3000 FPS +/-
Better question, was the round count you gave me, before I bought it, a WAG?

LOL :)

After Pac Nor BURNT down they have built a All NEW barrel making Facilitiy - I would like to try a barrel from them sometime too ! RJ

It would be interesting what Pac Nor would say. A 224 barrel running 26 grains of powder, pooched in a thousand rounds? Not good.

I was expecting you to say you had put 5000 rounds through it.

One thing occurred to me. Now that a lot of people have borescopes, a lot of bores look really bad. On the silhouette line, some cartridges like the 6BR that are good for 3500 rounds? If you look at a bore that has 1200 rounds down it? It looks like you need a new barrel. Sometimes with those barrels this new information that we have can lead to the wrong conclusion.

Hopefully that is the case with that 223AI barrel.
