Your experience with trail cameras

Have you tried their support recently? I have and it has improved tremendously....in the last week I have initiated a support chat 3X and been connected with a support person within minutes each time. So IMO they have solved much of their support issues. However, having a responsive support staff doesn’t exactly make up for a crap product.

Spypoint products are awesome when they work but infuriating when they don’t. I had major issues with my link evos when I first got them. Horrible support and issue after issue. But once I got the kinks worked out I was a happy camper....for about 18 months. During this time the cameras functioned but several times I watched animals large and small walk in front of the cameras and no pics - I’ve had this happen with other brands of cameras so I’ve learned to just accept that.

Recently I started having issues again. This time the support has been responsive but the issues can’t seem to be resolved. I had 2 cell cams working flawlessly for 18+ months and then out of the blue, both stopped transmitting at practically the same time. From my perspective is sure seems like spypoint changed something on their end but they deny this of course and because my cameras are out of warranty it appears I am sol.

At this point I would not recommend spypoint to anyone. Having a trail cam that sends pics to your phone is amazing! I will never buy another non-cellular camera. But I’m looking at options other than spypoint now. Cheap price and responsive support is great but when you factor in the frustration factor and a lifespan of <2 years, I think there are better options.

The Spypoint that quit here had a 2 year warranty.
Their tech was adamant my warranty had expired.
I told him to go to his web site and check it out.
He was still blabbering and no apology was forthwith.
I ended up sending it in and all that was needed was a software update.

This update is a procedure in itself that I can't get a grasp of.
Took it into a techi shop and the gal there was bewildered.

I'm pretty much convinced Spypoint has an expiry timer on their chit.
They keep changing models and with some of us nontechnical sort getting
frustrated with our non working units go out and replace them.

To update the Spypoint one needs an SD card and go to their site and download
the updates, stick the fruck'in card in yer camera and shazzzzam, it's updated.
This hasn't happened on the numerous times I tried it.

I am absolutely certain this Spypoint camera'ear is still serviceable, but I've
kawnsewm'd way too many brain cells trying to figure it out.

Fruck'im, I've put them on the chit list like I did with Bushienull.

Well looks like I will be with spypoint a little while longer. Despite my two link evos being out of warranty (and no longer made) they are sending me two brand new Link Dark cams. Maybe their newer gen cams will be better but maybe not. Either way, can’t say no to two free cams. Fingers crossed.

My buddy and I have over 30 cameras, all Brownings, mine are from 2014 to present and his are all newer models. We have a variety of models and have had very little trouble with them over the years. Battery life is excellent. a bunch of the cams go out in April and stay out til December on 1 set of batteries. We shoot videos only and with the exception of a couple of my older, cheaper cams the quality is very good. Setup is easy and is virtually the same for all models. I've dealt for customer service a few times and they've been very helpful. All in all we've had great success with these cams.

Have used a lot of different ones - friends dont let friends use Wildgame Innovations, Muddy, Tasco or Simmons cameras....

Stealtcam by far has been the most consistent and reliable for me. No issues with Bushnell and great warranty service if required. Two months into using a Spypoint cellular - despite bad ratings on Cabelas mine seems to be functioning well. Moultries I have are bulletproof but slow trigger speed and reset time.

Best ones going for the price point in my opinion are the following Camparks from Amazon.ca. Small, easy to conceal, take 4 AA batteries - the ones I used for surveillance on a heavily used road fronting my deer hunting property for people dumping crap on it took thousands of pictures using Lithium batteries wihout requiring battery replacement. For 65$ I have been very happy

I also have a couple of the other Camparks and they are working well to date.

I have several of the Campark minis. They works great and I’ve had no problems. Cheap too.

I had a spypoint cellular for a year, then they updated their stuff and no more cellular camera function. I wasted almost $500 never again spypoint!

I but Trail cams off Amazon for 60 bucks and they are better then anything you pay 100 - 200 for. Also if they get stolen not as a big of loss and they have a built in viewer

Well my Buddy paid 100 buck on sale for a Browning regular 200 from Canadian Tire his has no built in viewing screen and mine does, mine takes as good or better pics and I paid 60 bucks. In fact I bought 3 from Amazon no problems.

How do you know they are better?

How long have you owned them?

Like the other guys said, never again with spypoint.
Used it for a couple years lightly and it died in the summer months, that's fine, spypoint I couldn't get ahold of and wouldn't return multiple e-mails. Never again.
Moultrie was good, trying an Amazon one too this year.

Tried another Amazon special - VanTop Ninja 1 Trail Camera 20MP 1080P Hunting Game Cam with 3 Infrared Sensors, 120° Detecting Range

I was asked about how well this camera worked in extreme cold. When I pulled it the other day after it had been out for 3+ weeks, the batteries were dead. When I checked the card, it had over 17,000 pictures on a 8GB card. That is not a misprint. When I finally went through all of the pictures, of which 15,000 were of ravens, I had 2000+ pictures of wolves and foxes, mostly at night. According to the stamp on the pictures around the 500 mark, it was functioning at -37C. Even after that picture series / temperature it took another ~16,500 pictures before the batteries died.

For $65 I am very impressed with it.
