Perhaps too much negativity placed on guns using MIM parts?

They are not "optimal" for anything....I am another one of the many that had the MIM blade shear off of a SR-1911 front sight. It lasted for less than 25 rounds shot. I could have had it replaced under warranty, but stepped up and bought an optimal machined steel part.

Cheap and sometimes adequate would be my assessment.

and we cannot say the ruger sr1911 is cheap ...

Front sight broken, because it was a mim part and could not stand the stress of being a front sight, lol yeah.Laugh2f:P:

Again. While we shouldn't harp on which guns use cast/MIM parts. That it shouldn't matter. That we can get reliable factory guns using only MIM parts (e.g. Glock)...I feel if some one is going to spend $1700+ CDN on a single handgun...there better NOT be any cast or MIM parts.

I heard recently that Les Baer actually uses cast parts...don't know if they were referring to the slide/frame or internal parts. Any truth to that (like to hear from LB owners...preferably). I assumed any "custom" shop wouldn't be using any cast/MIM parts.

The frames on every CZ 75/SP-01 Shadow/Shadow 2 are casted, nobody #####es about that.
