Cow's owner, police don't buy coyote tale

COLFAX TOWNSHIP, MICH. -- A man says he shot and killed a neighbour's cow after mistaking it for a coyote. Authorities and the cow's owner are skeptical.

Police say they can't see how anyone could confuse a 635-kilogram cow with a coyote, which typically weighs about 13 kilograms.

Shooting coyotes is illegal during deer-shooting season and authorities asked the county prosecutor to bring charges.

Oh, this is quite a common, and easy to make mistake. As you'll see in photo 1, the common coyote.

It can easily be mistaken for your average Bovine. These are shown in photo 2, with a full sized Ford truck for scale.

jesus christ:eek: was it not just a few days ago, that some dude killed his grandson, thinking he was a deer:eek:..were does it end:confused:

It ends when they don't allow idiots into the bush.......so basically it will never end.

I look around at people and wonder sometimes how the hell they get by?

Someone that stupid cant be alone, must have a twin.

The bottom picture shows a herd of "COWyotes", I can see being confused. Somebody pee'd in the gene pool again!!!!

I can see where a guy could make that mistake......

Yup, I wonder if "he" had a set of binoculars.....I'll shout it loud enough so they can hear it in the "other" thread.

Not only should this guy be fined and face the consequences of his action, but he should also get an additional fine for thinking that the judge might be stupid enough to buy his idiotic story.

If I farmed down there I would put blaze on all my stock just to be safe!

An idiotic story is exactly what it is. The guy CLAIMS he mistook a cow for a coyote. In the article it says the police are skeptical, meaning they think he is well aware that he shot his neighbors cow. They can't prove it, so they are charging him with a fish and game offence. I'd bet that if someone was to search for a Michigan paper with a more complete story, they would find that these two guys have had a long standing dispute of some sort.
