Balls, read it again! Love is blind.

Now your signature? Which of your neighbors do you love?

I read your "post" just fine! I'm only going to say this once: keep your petty comments to yourself unless they relate to the thread! My signature is just that....my signature......your question has nothing (not even remotely) to do with this topic!! You seem to be quite the sh&* disturber.....and in case you haven't noticed a large percent of us are getting tired of it....you seem to be...uhmmmm oh....a troll!!

I hope you and your express will be very happy together, balls:)

"...Hey...teclaydon...where did you get the 3 rail picatinnny mount on the mag extension of your 870?..."
It's made by Leapers (yup, the same Leapers who make those not-so-good scopes), is constructed out of aluminium and comes with a black anodized finish. I purchased it online earlier in the summer ...although I can't recall exactly from where. Just Google 'shotgun tri-rail' and you'll find a retailer to purchase it from (it's a fairly common item and there's plenty of folks selling them). There's a 3-slot version (like the one I have) and a slightly longer 5-slot version ...they go for around $35 or so.

The way that it's designed, you actually have several options on how to mount it:

...clamped to both the barrel and the mag extension, clamped to just one or the other or clamped to either one and also clamped to a flashlight. I chose to clamp mine just to the mag extension and didn't use the upper clamp at all:

What will happen after some slugs?

And will it damage the surface?

I just wrap a single layer of bicycle innertube rubber around the section of mag extension that the mount is clamped to ...not only does it protect the finish, it prevents the mount from sliding once the clamp is tightened.

Where I work, I used to highly recommend the 870 express, thinking it was almost as good as the wingmaster. The express was my #1 suggestion when asked for guidance by a new shooter. I no longer do that and only sell an express when someone specifically asks for one. The reason is that there are too many complaints and too many come back for too many reasons. When asked what I think of the express, I tell my customer that the express is a copy of probably the most popular pump shotgun ever made, but they are not the same. I am reluctant to tell customers what I really think of them because where I work Remington is a large account . I still sell more express 870 gun than any other and I still hear and see more complaints than any other, but some really like their expresses and can not understand why would one pay more. $359.00 will get a gun that you can start with and decide later to upgrade if you want. If you use the express and get through your first season with lots of shooting the odds are that you may never have a problem and you have a good one. If you start having problems right at the start, the problems might continue and you might have a lemon. Hope you guys all get good ones.

"...The "satisfied owners" voters include one guy who was actually referring to his 870P and another who spent $$$$ having his Express completely refinished, parkerized, and tefloned (Clearly he'd been a "satisfied owner", right?)..."

Actually, you've got a few too many '$' in there bud' (...thanks for comin' out and playing though ;) ).

It's interesting how some of those who appear hell bent on force feeding their opinions in this thread also take the liberty of superimposing their own definition of 'satisfied' over the votes and posts of those who they disagree with (as in, "...People may 'say' that they're satisfied, but I know that can't be what they really mean...").

When I say that I'm 'satisified', that is what I mean. Any post-purchase mods or add-ons simply make me more 'satisfied'...

Kind'a like sprinkles on an ice cream cone...

Mmmmmm... Teflon sprinkles...

Keep smilin'.

My buddy ran a shop for a few years and he is a Huge Remington fan, but after a few years running a gun shop, he swears Norinco is a better gun. Now there is a true copy of an 870!

bill c68, if your buddy runs a gun shop, then he probably knows what he is talking about. Which is the better copy, I do not know. I hope that the gun norinco copied is the older version of the wingmaster because the newer version is not very good either. I think that the older wingmaster with 2 3/4 inch action was really reliable, but when they standardized on the magnum action, they started to have problems. When I watch skeet shooters pump their doubles the old ones very seldum hang up but the newer wmasters and expresses have problems. I would not buy any new remington pump today, especially the super magnum whcih is super trouble. Because I work in a gun shop I get nothing but compaint from people I know who bought them. I did not recomend them.

PS When I am out shooting targets, I get approached all the time with gun complaints because I work in a gun store. Last one was a fellow that I know quite well. He had bought 2 camo super mags. and neither one worked. I told him to simply bring them back but also told him that I would have not sold them if he had been in on a day that I was there.

How "new" of an 870 express is crap? How do I find out if mine qualified for crap? I run lots of slugs and whatnot without any problem.

Try to make sense of this reponse ;)

For a $350 shotgun I am satisfied with my personal Express and it appears to be one of the good ones. It has been 100% reliable and I am confident carrying it for bear protection with my family. I had to stone the sharp edges and it could use a trigger job but for a cheap plain Jane gun it is fine.
However!!!
In the last 5 years I have also seen first hand three brand new Expresses with problems right out of the box. One had sticky chamber, another had problems releasing rounds from the mag, the third had a shell latch twist in the receiver. As a range plinker that may be ok but for bear defence guns as these were intended that isn't cool. I prefer the Police models (or Wingmasters) for serious work, plinking the Express is fine but for out of the box guaranteed good gun it appears to be a bit of a gamble.
Cheers

Ike, your response does make sense and because you are not yet having problems with your personal express, you probably never will. Your description of out of box problems is also good and I could add a few like barrel not going on, mag cap not going on, parts missing, rust on and in barrel, safety will not move either way and I could go on. You are right, that out of the box this gun is for gamblers. It is the just sold ones that come back on a regular basis. Maybe those who got older ones that have problems do not bring them in because they think they are past warranty and take them to a smith of their choosing.

I just bought one a few weeks ago and now kinda regret it; for a less than $200 more I could and should have got the bottom ejecting Browning BPS. As a lefty I was "sold" by the left handed Express offering. I wish Remington offered some of the better models a left handed version. I hate the finish on the Express; it's pretty gross.

well you could put some teflon sprinkles on it and make it look like a big icecream cone:p

sorry about that Bronco Boy, could not resist:evil: but ya know beauty is only skin deep, but ugly goes to the bone and no matter what you do it will always be an express. My best advice if you think your express is gross, is to cut your losses and buy something that pleases you. The BPS is a quality gun. Good luck:) Not my line, but I like it.."life is too short to hunt with an ugly gun"
