I purchased my Shadow System MR918L elite last March brand new from my local gun store. It has been flawless and I have shot 2226 rounds through it consisting of 115 and 124 grain factory ammo.

On Friday, I went to the range and took my Shadow System MR918L elite equipped with my Streamlight TLR-8 attached to the bottom accessory rail. I took my first two shots without incident and then on my 3rd shot the gun went bang and immediately my Streamlight fell to the floor. When I picked up the Streamlight, I immediately noticed that the bottom accessory rail of the Shadow System MR918 L had broken off directly at the front portion of the notch. It broke in a half moon shape. I checked the firearm out and it was still operational. I shot a total of 50 additional rounds without this portion of the gun without any issues. I am unable to properly secure my light to the gun due to the missing piece.

I contacted Shadow Systems by phone on Friday and they asked me to send a brief explanation and photos by email. They were very nice to deal with. Due to the fact that they are in the US and we are in Canada, the rep was unable to tell me how the frame would get looked at until he spoke with the other members of his team. He stated that someone would get back to this week.

I have attached pictures for you all to look at. I really can't imagine the Streamlight attachment screw could exert that much pressure to break a polymer frame. I tighten the screw with a coin so I have to rule out over-torqueing. The gun has never been dropped or abused.

Black Box Customs sell stripped down MR918L frame so I can always purchase a new one for around 300.00 but I am hoping that Shadow Systems come through for me. With all the crazy things going on in my life this is just an annoyance and I still recommend their product. I will keep you all posted.

Just an update regarding my Shadow Systems MR918L elite. I received a call from a technical representative today and they we absolutely amazing. He indicated that this was the first time this particular problem had shown up and they are investigating. In the meantime I am getting a new frame free of charge. It will first have to be sent to the Canadian distributer who in turn will have to register it in my name since this is the registered portion of the firearm. He anticipated that the frame would be here in Canada in under a month. I have never dealt with any firearms manufacturer directly that even came close to to Shadow Systems. Normally Canadians are left to fend for themselves or deal with an approved warranty repair shop not directly with the manufacturer.

Shadow Systems prides itself on customer service and it certainly shows. I also wanted to give a big shout out to Devon at Black Box Customs who also came to my aid just in case Shadow Systems was unable to help me out.

My tax return will assist me in getting their new MR 920 series pistol.

I am very glad it turned out good for you.

As you stated, the warranties on this side of the border is more, often than not, left to nothing.
Props to Shadow Systems for going through those extra steps to honor that said warranty.

Good outcome. I was looking at a premium polymer pistol and stories like this are likely to sway me more towards a shadow systems now.

Just a quick update. It took a week for Shadow Systems to send me a complete replacement frame to their exporters so it can be sent to North Sylva here in Ontario as they are the importers for Shadow Systems. This process will probably take sometime but I have patience's.

I just want to reiterate that dealing with Shadow Systems was amazing. No pointing fingers, no blame game, no hassles at all. They apologized for the inconvenience. As I stated earlier normally Canadians are left to fend for themselves when it comes to a warranty issue not with Shadow Systems. Dealing with a manufacturer that prides themselves on quality products and outstanding customer service makes purchasing their firearms an easy choice.

I have a MR918L and love it so far, but I have 300 rounds through mine rather than 3000. BTW, that barrel finish looks pretty good for 3000 rounds. My Glock barrels have finish wear spots after a couple hundred rounds.

The barrel itself has almost no wear to the bronze coating. Its a little more noticeable on the lug. This coating that Shadow Systems utilizes is amazing.

So glad to hear that about Shadow Systems! They do seem to care. I picked up a MR918l recently. Very happy with it.

I just received an email from North Sylva the Canadian importers for Shadow System and they have my new frame. It is being registered today. Now its in the hands of the Ontario CFO. Hopefully I will receive it in the new few weeks. I would like to get it all ready so I can shoot it as soon as the lockdown is over.

Shadow Systems has the best customer service. Looking forward to purchasing their new 920 when it arrives in Canada.

Fantastic news! I also have a MR 918 and love this gun. It was my first Glock-esque gun after 40 yrs of shooting. I finally caved lol. Great customer service by this Plano TX company.
