PAL Wait Time

I haven't checked since the 17th until today, so there's a chance that it may have been processed some time between then and now, but online status tells me it's been issued.

Gotcha that makes sense. Can I ask what province your in.

covid is the greatest excuse for poor work now days, but looking for logic with anything the government does around firearms is a fools errand.

Are they REALLY not calling references on PAL applications due to COVID?? My file has been at the QC CFO for 2 weeks now... If they're not calling references, what else could be going on with it?

no one here has mentioned having refs called for about a year now i think. What are they doing with it? It is like a symbol of how busy they are, nothing more. They will hang on to it as long as possible to milk the scamdemic for all it is worth. Like a city worker holding a shovel so they have something to lean on, not to dig anything with it. Effing union workers cant live with them and cant light them all on fire and put them out with a bus.

Just a heads up to everyone using the online submission, make sure you check your card when it comes. My wife just got her card in the mail, not only was her name spelled wrong on the card but she is also apparently a male.

Who made you the boss?

People are posting timeliness, and general discussion about the process.

I am not saying nor implying that I'm the boss or a boss here. It's just simply a friendly reminder to everyone and so other people doesnt really have to check the threads all the way back. This is all about us tracking progress, comparing timelines and sharing important tips.

I dont know how my comment affects or impacts you. Keep your cool brother. Nobody is the boss here not even you.

Welcome to CGN.

in all seriousness, I am glad you posted your timeline as I am Alberta also and October 29th, so it is nice to see I have at least another 2 weeks to wait for my upgrade.

Oct 29 received

Restricted PAL application in Quebec (no PAL previously):

Mailed: October 16th2020
Received: October 21st 2020
Visible on RCMP website: 12Feb2021
CC Charge: 12Feb2021
12Feb2021: Missing PAL course results, faxed in
26Feb2021: Was made aware I needed the SQ3007 form for RPAL in Quebec, go get it filled out at local police station, faxed in 28Feb2021
09Mar2021: "Completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date."

My CC was charged on Monday (March 22nd) and was visable at the same time. I immediately wrote my reference number on my course results and faxed it in. As of a few minutes ago (Friday March 26th) I still see:

Question to anyone that faxed their course results in the same day it went online: How long did it take for your status to change to approved?

If they didn't receive the fax or there is another problem will the status change to some other message or will they try to call/email/mail me?

Thanks

Glenn

Once we get to the "completed initial processing stage", everything should be ok with your application to send off to your provincial CFO for verification and reference check (they don't always check references based on what I've been reading). I've read it could take months before it goes back to the RCMP for license issue.

It seems the Ontario CFO is quite quick based on comments I've read, and QC CFO having one of the longest wait times (i.e. months).

I'm on the same time line as you. But I mailed my course results in with the rest of my paper work as my instructor gave them to us same day.

From BC. I'll update when approved.

Visible online march 22. Initial processing complete
I had a money order so no cc charge.
As of today hasn't changed.

Thanks for the update. In Ont we don't get our results the day of the course. They get mailed to us. It took 2 months, so to speed things up the consensus for us is to get the application in and fax the form in once it goes online (so we can put the reference number on.

Waiting and wondering is sooooooo fun ;)

AB applicant
Received: Sept 24th
CC Charge: Jan 14th
Issued: March 26th

6 freaking months. I had to call twice. First time I called approx 1st March they said the photo wasn't verified yet but all looked good and she'd put a note on my file to get on with it.
Called again 2 weeks later. Same response.
Second phone call did the trick and they got it verified and sent to AB CFO.

Makes you wonder, if I never called would it have just sat there forever?
