PAL Wait Time

Thanks for the update. In Ont we don't get our results the day of the course. They get mailed to us. It took 2 months, so to speed things up the consensus for us is to get the application in and fax the form in once it goes online (so we can put the reference number on.

Waiting and wondering is sooooooo fun ;)

Weekends are the worst cause you know nothing is happening, and the wait till Monday to check sucks lol

I called Ontario CFO today inquiring about my transfer request put in a week ago, by providing the reference number and my personal information the lady answering the phone instantly found the request with the details. She said nowadays it takes about 10 business days for CFO to process it, and she put a note on the request of email notification when the transfer is completed.
Hope this gave some ideas about what the time line is in Ontario most recently.

So the process order (for a new PAL) is we send our stuff to the main RCPM office in NB, they process payment and enter it into their system and then they kick it back to the originating province CFO? Would I be further ahead calling the ontario number with my reference number to see if they got my course copy that was faxed to the 800 number (likely in MB).
If so, would you have the Ontario number handy?

Thanks

6 freaking months. I had to call twice. First time I called approx 1st March they said the photo wasn't verified yet but all looked good and she'd put a note on my file to get on with it.
Called again 2 weeks later. Same response.
Second phone call did the trick and they got it verified and sent to AB CFO.

Makes you wonder, if I never called would it have just sat there forever?

What was the timeframe between it being sent to the AB CFO and your license issue on 26Mar?

Not sure. 1 week max.

I would say 2 months. Your cc was charged on Jan 14, it would've "completed initial processing" around that date, it is my understanding that the initial processing is uploading all your information into the computer system and pressing send to the provincial cfo. I think it is the Alberta CFO who is dragging @ss.

I suspect that is the case. They put them on back burner, They hope people will forget about it. But calling in shows interest so they move on them.

I am sure that if i did not call in i would still be waiting. Six months is about average now. I waited over 19 months. From my last phone call it appears it was ready to move to "issued" and
all it needed was someone to click the button. I called in the morning last time, 3 hrs later i get call from CFO - short interview and "issued" that day.

its been 1 week, still no card in the mail yet. When should I call the CFO?

give it another week then 1-800 731-4000

when you call an say it hasn't arrive I think they will cancel and reissue (so new number etc.) so better to wait, after all they say it will take 2 weeks and canada post sucks right now so it could be longer.

ON Applicant
Sent papers in mid-Nov
Received 20 Nov
CC charged 23 Mar
Now the online status says processing with average 45 days to process

Once they charge your CC, that's when you can log in and see status of your application. Before that, if you didn't send in your application via registered mail, like me, you get to sit and wait for four months wondering if they actually received it. I only know they received on 20 Nov because that's what it says online once they finally posted the status on the RCMP website.

I'm probably a week or two ahead of you. Happy birthday in advance, hoping the RCMP angels are kind to you.
My buddy sent his in mid november and got it 2 weeks ago. So we shouldn't be too far behind.
What's on the to-buy list?

your buddy had same timeline as mine. I mailed application out on Nov 10, and got the card in mail on March 22.

I'm personally into historically relevant firearms so mostly surplus (specifically Russian surplus)
SKS as a first (before supply completely dries up), Tok. or Mosin as a second, wouldn't mind a 92fs and an SVT and Garand would be miracles to own,
I'm a broke Uni student right now so my options aren't too wide anyways,
But if there was only 1 firearm I could ever own (assuming the NR characteristics are actually followed properly and they don't arbitrarily ban certain funs) it would have to be an AKM or AK 103
What about yourself?
