This is Y Haplogroup I-M253 or possibly but less likely I-2 with little other admixtures. European Paleolithic hunter genetics without much of Neolithic Farmer or R1A R1B Indo-European/Aryan admixture

Second pic ... first time I have seen that map case on a soldier... I have one that my father 'liberated' along with a jump smock... the case is beautifully made of dark brown leather. The securing strap has a brass plate inletted to prevent wear
