There's just something about a high quality 1911...

So I've never been a 1911 guy. Only 1911 that stuck around has been my GSG .22 model, had it for years now. Others have came and gone. Tons of Norincos, Taurus 1911, SAM, Colt, Sig 1911. Maybe others I'm forgetting too.

Decided I want something fancy, so got myself a Dan Wesson Specialist LASD 9mm. This thing is pretty sweet, definitely nicer than anything I've had before especially in a this design. Due to the lockdown haven't had a chance to shot it but there sure is something special about a high quality, well made 1911. You can tell someone spent a lot of time in pre production on this pistol. Lots of well thought out lines, from the rail, the ejection port, to sights. This this is miles away from a basic old school 1911. Hopefully this one will be another keeper.

Update post 37.

Yes, Dan Wessons give a lot of quallity for the price. And its not just cosmetic. The barrel/bushing fit and lockup fit are excellent. That together with the wonderful 1911 trigger usually provides impressive accuracy.

That is what i tell myself when i hold a Norinco.

What a gun for the price !

Haha they are a good value esp when you buy used. I've had easily well over a dozen different norincos over the years, but the lack of refinement does leave a lot to be desired. I think about a month ago I sold a norc 1911 and DW makes it look like you're comparing a 2001 kia to a 2021 Benz.

I agree that Norinco's offer fantastic value. But their barrel to bushing fit will never offer stellar accuracy. But those I've had in the past always functioned, always went bang.

Took some half assed pics that dont do the gun justice, excuse all the lint lol

I have the DW LASD Specialist in "God's Caliber" and it's a tack driver, 230 gr ball, 200 gr H&G SWC on 5gr of Bullseye or a max charge of Unique/Universal, pretty much everything I've put through it shoots into a ragged hole at 10m and pretty much everyone who shoots it comments first on the accuracy and second on the trigger (especially folks shooting the polymer people poppers)...

Last Saturday I shot the best 10m pistol group I've ever shot, buddy commented it looked like a single 12 gauge slug hole. Dan Wesson definitely makes 1911's that can shoot.
