There's just something about a high quality 1911...

Recently picked up a Dan Wesson V-Bob 9mm. Well made and good looking gun.

I was pleasantly surprised to find my older version Norinco compact [commander] flawlessly digested Fiocchi 200 gr JHP's.

So, can a $350 pistol be considered "high quality" if it does that & is very accurate to boot?

It can be accurate and reliable. To me high quality means well built with tight tolerances and flawless finish. If only ontario ranges were open so i can test the reliability and accuracy part :/
 
So I just got the same thing but in .45- haven’t shot it either. However o have been wanting to buy a commander version and was wondering if you would include Bul Armoury in the list with Dan Wesson in terms of quality? Or if anyone else has thoughts please chime in!

Decided I want something fancy, so got myself a Dan Wesson Specialist LASD 9mm. This thing is pretty sweet, definitely nicer than anything I've had before especially in a this design. Due to the lockdown haven't had a chance to shot it but there sure is something special about a high quality, well made 1911. You can tell someone spent a lot of time in pre production on this pistol. Lots of well thought out lines, from the rail, the ejection port, to sights. This this is miles away from a basic old school 1911. Hopefully this one will be another keeper.

I own both the Dan Wesson LASD in 9mm and in .45. Shoot both in IDPA and now mostly the 9mm. It shoots just fine with HP’s, 115g, 124, and 147’s. Round nose or truncated. I load my own in 124g plated round nose CANPRO bullets to 130 PF, and man is it accurate and smooth shooting! I’ve paired them with a Soley Canadian kydex concealment holster with a 10 degree forward cant and double mag pouch.
Great shooting set up for matches so far!
 
Here's my nicest 1911 - an STI .45 ACP 5" Single-Stack Tactical. It is a tack-driver capable of putting 10 rounds into a single, ragged hole at 8 yds:

You and I both. Mine never sees factory ammo, and eats everything, and hits the target where it's pointed. Looks nice too actually. The guys with the snobish ones, most of them don't shoot them enough to be competative, some get frustrated and stop brining their fancy guns out.

Oh well.
 
That's why i got a 9mm - lower cost of ammo :) I also reload. And while i don't bring all guns to the range at the same time. They all get their turn..those that don't get sold, no safe queens here.

we shot this morning my wife lasd and we tried 115 124 and 147 grains in different brands including defence rounds and all worked good without a glitch in the 9mm ... the thisas canuck did well as well but my wife compared the silk of the lasd to the cotton of the thisas ...
 
The only reason I don't own a 1911, is because I don't want to cheap out. I'd very much like it to be the nicest one on the shelf, and that's going to take some saving. Nothing wrong with cheaper 1911's I've almost purchased some, in drunken internet shopping. But in the end I all ways stopped myself so that I can just save up for a really nice piece that I'd truly be proud to pull out.

What's the word on Dlask Arms custom 1911's? Having a Canadian made one would be kind of cool.
 
Update

Finally got to shoot the 1911 (range was closed) and have to say I was not disappointed. Tested 3 different loads 2 of which where hollow points. Zero malfunctions! Accuracy was quite good! I was a little rusty and sucked with my beretta 92 and glock 48. But did alright with Dan wesson. Such a smooth shooting gun. Keeper for sure.

Can’t wait to take my Dan Wesson LASD and Valor out this week for a break in.
