PAL Wait Time

Question for those of you that just got approved and know the day you saw the message change. What expiration date is on the card? The day it was approved + 5 years? Or a few days after?
I called and got my PAL number but didn’t think to ask for an expiration date.

it will expire on your birthday,5ish years after you get approved -5ish because it depends on your BD an approval date-

Edit: mine was approved Aug 2016, and expires on my BD 2022 so I got 5 years 10 months, when they approve my upgrade I will only get 5 years and maybe 1 or 2 months.

So if my birthday is December and I got approved in April my expiry would be Dec birthday 2026 or 2025?

I’m also from B.C. and they received my application on Oct. 22nd and I’m still waiting. Next week will be the six month mark.(

The status of my application changed today to
I have been or will be contacted for additional info. So I phoned today (for first time) and I was advised I have to send them another photo because the first one wasn’t on photo paper. I wish it had specified that in the application so another 1-2 weeks wasn’t wasted. Will be mailing them another photo Monday. At least it seems my application will finally be approved soon after it’s received!

Jesus Christ!! they couldn't have told you this in February? effing d!ck heads.

I called yesterday to complete a transfer and they had a recording that stated new pals have a minimum of a 4 yes FOUR month delay. This is ridiculous and I feel bad for the folks that are in this situation.

yup been this way since last march due to Covid. It is a pretty lame excuse, but the union members can keep beating that dead horse to do less work too. I am just shy of 6 ( yes six) months for an upgrade, that should tell you all you need to know.

You’re right it’s a pretty lame excuse. Has anyone gone to their ombudsman to see if that will light a fire under their asses?

I know of a few folks that did this last year when they had a “printer problem” and their pals were issued pretty quickly.

Canada post will destroy it. I called the rcmp firearms line, extremely nice lady that helped me out and unless there is a printed canada post “prepaid” stamp, which she described what it looked like and would have a prepaid number on it, they probably will not get it. She reccomended resending an application with express for the tracking information so i will know that they received it. If the first application made it and come proccessing time, there will be a delay but call at the 4 month mark to ask for info on my application, more helpful than canada post on this one. Bonus too, the instructors at my course came on their own time to let me get the new paperwork... absolutely amazing

Will post info once shipped express lo

UPDATE!!

So, after dealing with Canada Post hiccup, i ended up resending my application later express post Jan 10....Received: Jan 14.

THEY GOT THE ORIGINAL APPLICATION!!

Sent December 19th
Received December 31st
CC Charged: April 16th

Sounds like i have to call the RCMP and tell them the situation before more hiccups for double applicaion. Hopefully the first gets completed before the second one gets started.

I called on Thursday after a few weeks of it being online. I had some incorrect info as I had moved, and new cell number. (I called as soon as it went online, but forgot my cell number, and I guess the height i wrote down, was different then what my DL says by 3 cm.) But never heard from them about incorrect info, so I'm lucky I called. The lady on the phone sent it to the bc cfo right away so hopefully this week sometime. They seem to be pretty quick for bc once the provincial cfo gets it.
