Not sure if you're looking for information on the 9.3's in double rifles, but I've got a Ruger #1 in 9.3x74R. It's easy to load for using RL15 & BLC2 with just about any 285 gr. bullet, although it shows a definite preference for the old Norma PPDC's or PPU RNSP's. It also prefers CCI or the old nickel-coloured W-W 8 1/2-120 primers over others, especially Federal LR primers. I use PPU brass for it, as well as most everything else nowadays. A plus, especially considering the price of Norma or RWS brass. A further bonus is that it kicks nowhere near as bad as my Ruger #1's in .375 H&H, despite the latter having much heavier barrels, thus being heavier overall.

Haven't taken it hunting as yet, due to our moose season being closed for a few years now and I prefer one of my Husqvarnas in 9.3x57 or .366 Wagner when I'm sneaking up on Yogi munching on kinnikinnick.

Hey, Phil... I have owned three 9.3X74R rifles... two were Ruger No.1-S and a stubbed H&R SB2. I like the long slender case, it is easy to handle and feed in the falling block. All of the rifles were accurate and full power loads with 286 bullets are not uncomfortable to shoot. I think in a falling block or break action, it is an excellent cartridge choice. Power wise, it is not too much for smallish deer and not too little for everything else that walks in Canada.

I had one of the Rugers. That long rimmed cartridge just feels right sliding into the tube.
Took a bear and a moose with it. The moose was trotting accross a cut over and it took me a couple “ranging” shots to get one in the vitals. That’s the last I hunted with it as opportunities at moose aren’t frequent enough where I hunt to feel handicapped.

I ended up with one from an estate. It needs to be regulated one on target at 50 yds the other somewhere in the wild blue yonder.

I've owned a Blaser S2 sxs double in the 9.3x74R. Mounted a Leupold 2.5-8x36 and it shot like a house on fire. Barrels where very easy to regulate, to the distance the shooter desires. I enjoyed this cartridge immensely, however it did not like me. The concussion from the blast and recoil gave me a sore head, which lead to a very bad headache. I sold the rifle for health reasons. I sold it and purchased a double shotgun instead, which I use more often than a double rifle. Double shotguns don't bother me what-so-ever, only double rifles.

Carried a BRNO o/u in 9.3x 74R for years.
In Africa several times. My favorite rifle to take there. Accurate as all get out. I use a low variable Burris.
Hits hard. Used for ranges from 300m (front is a set trigger) or so to close range. Cats, Kudu, Zebra .... everything. Great round, great gun.
Used the 286 gr Norma Oryx mainly but the cats got the 286 gr Nosler Partition.
I love the 9.3 x 62 as well but I am partial to double rifles and the rimmed version is more assured during extraction in my opinion in doubles.

I have used it and it’s twin for few years but have not had luck with either yet. Have o/u in Sabatti that handles nice and points great. Use 286g with imr 4350 for 2350 fps with it

I would love a double preferably O/U in 9.3x74, it would be cool to carry around... or even a Kipplauf, a Kipplauf would be awesome!!

Kipplauf in 9.3 would be a great boomstick. Lots of old ones in 9.3x72

Throw in a 7x64r and you would have a real euro anywhere combo

My first 9.3X74 was in 1982, a BRNO o/u double, when most had never heard of it, components were non-existent, let alone loading info. Luckily I knew Jack Carter (Trophy Bonded) and he made up a some test bullets. Same with Barnes (thanks, Connie!) and connections within Speer (I have the only Grand Slams they unknowingly produced)! These led to lots of experiments, all good!

Quickly it became a favourite for the big stuff and I now have 3 more doubles in SXS, a Ruger, a Farquharson, and an Alex Henry, all single shots. So my best advice is to go for it, and enjoy yourself, I do!!

I have a Kipplauf in a 300 H&H, awesome rifle and cartridge combination for hunting, it even has an ejector.;)

I’d love a Farquharson or an Alex Henry, you have good taste. If you ever decide that one of those is surplus to your needs please let me know!

My 9.3x74 is a Fabarm o/u, it’s styling is a bit modern for my usual tastes but it is light and handles amazingly. While the action and stock are Italian the barrels are actually made by Merkel in Germany. I set it up with a Meopta 1.7-10x42 and an Aimpoint H2.

I haven’t had the chance to hunt with it as it had a broken firing pin which has now been fixed. I think my other rifles will probably all stay in the safe this coming fall.
