My wife's sister has had a decent size [by the picture she took] Black bear hanging around
their house. I have my 325 WSM [M70 Ultimate Shadow] ready. I believe a 196 Norma Orxy
driven by 69 grains of MRP [2910 fps] should get the job done. Just waiting for her to call.
If it happens, I'll post pictures. Dave.
Here is a picture of him in their yard. Not there ATM, but soon, I hope!

I think you need an ubber magnum, but pics will prove otherwise ;)
Good Hunting,
Rob

I could easily take him with a 6.5x55 or 7x57, but I want to try this bullet to see how it performs.
It shoots sub-moa in this rifle, if it will stay together at WSM velocities, then it will be a decent
carry when I am Moose hunting in Grizzly country. :) Dave.

that is the perfect bullet for the task.

The Liberals have left us defenseless against bears with the OIC!

those threads are hilarious. apparently bears in some part of this country are bullet proof. i use a .308, never had one complain. a friend of mine is a hunting guide and his client shot a record book bear with a .243 his client was 13 years old.

In the fall I used my 4570 for the first time on bear... didn't look any deader than with the 270 or 303 I've used in the past... maybe I'm just not shooting them right .
