Looks like a very clean break. Some Titebond III glue and careful clamping would give you a strong, nearly invisible repair that you should be able to do yourself.

Long story short it got flagged by Canada post on its way to me they opened up the box and i imagine someone there dropped it on the buttpad as its also bent were the peice broke off , they never owned up to it , im pretty dissapointed, it was an expensive purchase

That is the fault of the person packing it... it sounds like it was loose in the box...

Install the broken piece - then cut off and install a pad...

Talk to the Owner in a Fine / expensive Furniture Store.

Back in the day I knew a Guy whom did the Repairs in the fine Furniture Store he was working for. Unbelievable high quality work he produced, you just never would know a piece was repaired and the colour coordination was also second to none.

Good Luck & Cheers

Im gonna check that out thank you
When it comes right down to it this is just a wood repair so a competent woodworker/repair person should be able to do a professional job on it. If the butt plate is an exact fit make sure they leave it on when doing the repair so you don't end up with a gap or rounded edge.

Yuck, that is a difficult fix - the screw going through the split makes it particularly tricky. Compounded by the missing piece - you need a pro. I would not recommend a DIY fix if you want it to be seamless.

What does "flagged by Canada Post" mean? What causes them to open the box?

No carrier will open a parcel, only customs and the police will/can do that. Went through something similar recently.

Judging from how it broke - that was just waiting to happen, even in a hard case Canada Post is talented enough to be able to break it. :(
