SIG SAUER P220 or P227.

1911 if you are a parts changer.

any TupperWare needs to stay in the cupboard where it belongs!!

Buy a used STI 1911. Best buy for the money IMO. unfortunately STI quit making 1911's and focused more on 2011's. The only problem, I found with an STI is the weak bluing but easily remedied. Overall, a great gun. Buy once and cry once.

I've owned a Canadian bulit Para SSP and beg to differ....although it functioned well and was reasonably accurate, the peening at the slide stop at 300 rounds ( which was sharp enough to cut flesh) and the fact that Para told me the slide peening was 'normal' was enough to turn me off of them and I promptly sold it. FWIW, I've owned Colts, Norninco, Wilson Combat and Dan Wesson 1911's and NONE of them exhibited peening at the slide stop and some of these pistols have seen thousands of rounds. Also, a range buddy owned the shorter LTC model and he had nothing but problems with it. He, too, sold it off within six months of buying it. Sure, you can consider buying a Para-Normal product but, IMHO, there are better choices and products for the same or less money. YMMV. Your money, your choice.

I had the same problem and they fixed it, but then again I can be pretty persistent, some would call me tenacious, when it come to those sorts of things. The original slide was a MIM product or improperly hardened. There have been absolutely no issues with it since.

so I went to a local store to try a couple .45ACP, including Glock 21, Springfield XDM, Sig Sauer P220 and a Dan Wesson Vigil.
I have to say DW 1911 was the most elegant but ergonomically not better than others. Glock 21 is the worst, especially the grip is so thick. With 10 rounds limit in Canada, this double deck mag has no point at all.
Ergonomically in my hands and aesthetically in my eyes, Sig Sauer P220 is the best. However it's a 40 anniversary version. A line of big and white statement is on the slide. This is so obvious and ugly. I cannot bear with it.
So I walked without any purchasing. I will have to keep looking I guess.

No weak bluing and better steel in Norks.

Ok,

Now try and find the HK45 and the Walther PPQ .45

I would put money down you'll purchase one.

oh, man you are right. I just came back and had hands on HK45 ACP V3 model. I really love it, same good ergonomic feeling as Sig P220, but without that ugly white billboard.
I really like the feature that the safety serves as de-corking, easily switch back to double action.
Also the slide is really good feeling, the finish is just so smooth and having premium feeling.
I am going to wait a bit to see if there is any discount coming soon.

Glad you were able to find one and hold it.

Highly unlikely you'll find a better price than the 1069.00 or so they are going for now.

I really, really wanted to like the HK45…I’ve bought (and sold) three of them. There are two things I’ve not been able to get past—the first being the overly slippery grip texture. The pistol felt great in my hands but I found it a little “squirrelly” when shooting it. The second thing was that the front-to-back trough in the trigger guard “bit” my trigger finger under recoil…from what I’ve read this is not uncommon but dos not affect all shooters. The HK45 Compact has a grip texture and trigger guard more in line with what Larry Vickers and Ken Hackathorn had in mind for the pistol (have a read here for some great insight into the origin of the pistol).

I’m in good shape for .45s right now but if I was looking for a new one an HK45c would be on the short list. I would also not be too quick to dismiss the P220. I had mine out last evening for the first time in almost a year and it was so pleasant to shoot it again.

I’m also actively looking for a new HK45C or HK45CT, was just told by NS that they are no longer in production.

Yet, they are still on the HK USA website and new ones are still showing up all over the states.
