More than likely an SP1 Sporter judging on the receiver and front take down pin.

The whole rifle would have gone upward of $1500 pre-OIC. Parted out I wouldn't expect anywhere near that.

Don't turn that in for destruction for the love of sweet baby Jesus.... I'd give you a kidney for it!

Yes ! It is very unfortunate.

Il probably sell the parts and keep the receiver as I’ve been ask to sell most of the stuff to raise funds for the widow.

WOW, a original, no fence on the port, no forward assist.
IF the scope is a colt made in Japan 3 power that is 1500 dollar item, but it looks too new to me.
As a total firearm in the USA it is now a 50 year old antique, with status for that.

Does that mean you can sell these in the Us because of the status or they still count as an ar 15 so importing them is a no go ?

Don't know how you just inherited it - these have not been transferrable for over a year. If it wasn't registered to you prior to the OIC, you can't keep the receiver - receivers - both upper and lower are banned. If there is a "buy back" the widow might be better off financially to get the buy out. What do you think the parts would bring if you break it?

What does the registration certificate say?

You say you just inherited it. That could be very problematic.

If you are interested in keeping it or selling it lawfully you will need to consult a firearms lawyer.

In my opinion, without the receiver the parts are worthless.

I would curse you and your whole house if you ever did something as stupid as taking that firearm apart and selling the parts.

That's getting a bit strong, it is just an SP1. Unless you've got one made before 1968 there isn't anything particularly special about them, and I've never yet heard of one that early in Canada. Most date right around 1980.

I don't suggest any AR-15 owner take his gun apart just yet, but if you must, you must.
