Latest batch of Stevens 200 from SIR?

I ordered one in .223 from SIR last Tuesday. I finally got an email to say they had shipped it yesterday, but who knows how long it will take Canada Post to get it here. When it finally arrives I'll take a look.

Have you just got one too?

why do they take so damned long to ship?
i love SIRs prices but their communication and shipping times need some serious work.
if something is on backorder they dont call or email you, the order just sits there indefinitely until you call in 3-4 weeks later asking wtf is up with your order.
if you phone first and make sure that a gun is in stock before you order, after you order it they sit on the order for a week or two before actually processing it, then its another 5-6 days for shipping. its quite frustrating.

Actually I just bought 2 on Monday. i'm expecting them today or tommorow.
what the hell?
every gun ive ordered has taken at least 1-2 weeks before they even ship it out. and yes i pay with credit card.

I emailed to ask whether they had received my order as I didn't get any kind of confirmation even after a few days. The response I got was, "yes we got your order but we dont confirm anything until it ships and we need up to 5 days just to process your PAL number with the CFC"?!

Whenever I buy a gun in person at Le Barons or wherever the whole phoning through with the registration and PAL takes about 10-20 minutes max, not 5 days. I guess they just have a very inefficient process setup at SIR to handle these things?

no clue but its pretty frustrating.
however, the fact that their regular prices are on average 25% lower than LeBarons makes me get over it pretty fast :)

have you seen their prices on the Marlin leverguns?
SIR: Marlin Model 336SS Stainless Rifle: $529
LeBaron: Marlin 336SS $703.45

SIR: Marlin 1895GS Stainless: $599
LeBaron: Marlin 1895GS: $814.94

^^thats insane. and keep in mind that Lebaron already has lower prices than most other stores.
LeBaron has a special 20% off sale this month only for Club Card members, and even with that their uber sale price on the 1895 stainless guide gun is $652 - over $50 higher than SIRs 'regular price'.
$75 more expensive if you add the $25 for the Club Card.

I've bought a few guns from SIR and always got them in 5 to 6 days. I have always phoned in my order and I always ask if what I'm ordering is in stock. Are you guys phoning in your order or ordering over the internet? That might make a difference.

i generally place a web order and then phone to make sure its in stock.

it still wouldnt explain things like the nearly three week wait for my M44. they had something like 80 in stock when i placed my order. they sat on the order for almost a week and a half before they finally billed my CC and shipped it.

when i call in they just say that it takes them several days to start the transfer process.

Holy crap! They must have sold a fair number. My dad bout one last week and I ordered 2 on Monday. (Just got the call from home saying they arrived)

Can one of you members that is getting the .223 version post a "consumer report" on one of the forums when you've had a chance to put it through it's paces?

I too am interested in one chambered in .223, curious how well they perform.

thanks.

Do a search. There has been lots of discussion on the Stevens 200's.

Dante's had them on sale for $297.99 so I called to see if they had a 22-250 for a young fella asking me about them. He was unsure so I said I'll buy it :D . He said if he likes it he would just buy it off me, of course I said "if you like it you can order your own" :p I thought SIR's were going for $319.99 and firgured I was saving $20 for another donor action. Should have been shipped out today, I'll post back when it gets here.
