The .45 ACP Enfield Thread!

What about 9mm LE?

Tiriaq been working on mine. I supplied him with a Suomi M31 12.4" 9mm barrel and a mag adapter. He worked his magic to use the barrel w/o modding it, so it is still NR. Seems the shorter 9mm is making it a bit challenging to run "reliable"

That requires modifications in my case. The bolt head on an 1891 in 7.65 x 53 is exactly the same as 45 ACP.
If I go with a 9mm Variant...than I have sit down to pee... complicates my life to much. Confusing underwear choices...just no.
OK all trolling aside... it's plug and play in my instance.
I do have a few boxes of 9mm Largo in the garage... just in case you know.
Lots of 9 x 23 Steyr brass in my larder too.

Still working on it, I would also like to explore the 45 super or even Rowland possibility.. Only fired10 rounds through it so far but accuracy at 100 looks promising. My gunsmith did a nitride coating that I love and will have all the metal except barrel done in it. Ejection works well as long as you work the bolt snappily. Took many hours patiently sanding the extraction hook to accomplish that lol. Am trying to figure out a way to get a good positive stop for the Mag and a better Mag release button.

Sorry my post wasn't directed to you. Was just asking if 9mm Lee's would be accepted in this post.

I ain't Butthurt at all LoL.
And why wouldn't it be accepted?
Bring it to the table, Man!

I only been getting progress photos. Thinking of putting an ATI syn stock on when I get it.

Quite the jump it has to make. Believe he is making something to reduce the area so the round cannot flip up as much. It uses a AR15 style plunger ejector. Bolt face been modded to cup the round better, so it doesn't slide down.

Wow I can't believe I am just stubling on to this! I love all my other pcc and really want to build one of these. Can someone point me in the right direction. What parts would I need? Where would I find one of the kits? Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks

Wolverines supplies were selling the Rhineland arms kits. I was inspired to make one by a guy on YT, that his video he removed. But we got talking and he sent me some pictures of his build. You could probably make your own mag well, if you have some tools and welder.

Thank you I will contact them to see if they can get me one. What mag system do these kits take?

AR 15 style plunger installed in a No4 rotating bolt head??? Your smith is talented and has some pretty special drill bits.

I've been seriously thinking about grinding a slot in the side of the bolt head and receiver for a receiver mounted ejector system that is spring loaded and will be pushed back by the bolt body. When the bolt is pulled back, the ejector will be pushed by the spring into the slot, to push the spent case off the bolt face.

Maybe a small round plunger with a bevel instead of an arm?? Whatever, it will need to be installed in a manner it doesn't inhibit feeding, so it will have to be well behind the rear of the 1911 magazine.

Just have to design a simple system, with enough capability to move the required distance. It shouldn't be difficult, just tedious.

Ejection isn't reliable on my rifle.

It shoots well though. I now have a scope mounted, using an S&K receiver bridge clamp type mount.

It has a black B&C tupperware stock and I installed an old No5 Carbine flash hider/front sight, that had the bayo lug cut off.

One thing about the kits offered by Wolverine, they aren't just a snug up the lock nut to the receiver face set up.

I had to set back the shoulder on the nut, so that I could get the pre chambered barrel properly headspaced.

I was thinking it would be an easy conversion for the 458x1.5 or x2 Rimless made on cut down 308Win cases but why re invent the wheel.

The youtuber that inspired me to want to build a 9mm LE. I believe a Eastern European. Actually he is on CGN. He made his own mag adapter, that had a spring loaded ejector that popped up as the bolt came back ( popped down when the bolt closed ) He also welded on some washers to cup the rounds. Which the smith who is building mine, ran into the issue of the 9mm sliding off the bolt head. So that solution solved that. He didn't want to mod the adapter. So he came up with the AR15 plunger.

So it has been going thru alot of T&E to get working.

That's the proper way to sort out the LE for sure with rimless pistol rounds. I've been thinking of doing up the bolt head on my 45 ACP unit for a while now, and that pic showed me clearly the way to go to git-r-done nice. The TIG awaits. ;)

The main purpose of this was, I wanted to put a AR15 handguard, and M4 stock and pistol grip, piss off some people. But guess AR15 barrel nuts just wouldn't worked. I think I'm just going to try and make an extended forearm for it.

Curious why AR barrel nuts wouldn't work? Differences in your design? I have an adapter lying around that SIA was making at one time that is supposed to go instead of the Enfield barrel nut and its outside is threaded for an AR barrel nut...

Love the little carbines!

I built one on a savage 112-J action. Bull, 20.5” barrel.

I had to switch the bolt face to a .308 size.

It is a butter smooth feeding and ejecting dream!

The 230’s shoot inside 1.5MOA easily on a normal basis. I have had many Sub-moa groups as well. It is a super fun project!

Yes different design. I supplied the smith a 12.5" Suomi m31 barrel. He made an adapter for the gun ( since could not modify the barrel ) Using an AR15 barrel nut, it would only thread couple threads.

ok that is interesting, the adaptor is threaded to screw inside the Enfield receiver, 1" 14TPI (I think) and then extends and is threaded for an AR barrel nut, and the inside bored out for the Suomi barrel contour.

is there a spacer in there too between the Suomi barrel and the AR barrel nut ??

Not sure, I have not seen it in person. I'm just getting build photos. I would say the name, but then everybody and their dog would want it done :D

you already gave that away in post 20 :)

I am still toying with doing one up in 44Mag.

the 44Mag has a very similar rim diameter to the 303 so no bolt or ejector modifications need to be done.

I have a barrel blank that I was originally thinking would work on a commercial 1905 Ross E but the breach threads are a nightmare (3TPI left hand buttress) but if I use the worn barrel stub as an adaptor similar to what it looks like was done for your enfield that will open up some more possibilities for me. But then I will need to deal with a Ross bolt face and ejector.
