The .45 ACP Enfield Thread!

The Deslisle had a shortened bolt and the barrel intruded back into the action quite a ways. I have not heard of feeding or extraction issues with the Deslisle setup.

My new 45 ACP project. 16.5" threaded barrel, on a LB No7 receiver. Have a No5 FH but not sure if I'm gonna install it. Waste of a threaded barrel.

Got my mag catch fitted that locks the mag in tight. Tomorrow gonna make a extended mag release. As it is recessed in. Ill fab up a temp front sight to take it to the range. To determine the height I need plus, function test it. Sure it ran okay with SWC dummies. Not sure what it will do with empties. Some rounds got caught between the chamber and round in the mag.

One thing I don't like, the extractor doesn't ride over the rim if I single load it. Trying to find the spring loaded ejector that came in the SIA kits.

I enquired with Stoeger about buying a front sight from a T3X Arctic, as it's meant for the 5/8-24 barrel.

But overall so far functioned way better than the 9mm.

Need to make a cheek piece. Had it on the range today. Worked great for the most part, the ejection is a little choppy and some rounds you had to dump.

Playing around at 25 yards. Plus testing a load that OAL was too long.

I would love to see a few manufacturer's offer a 9mm bolt action rifle...something economical that takes glock mags. It would sell as anything 9mm seems to sell.

I seen one where they used a Armscor TCM22 and converted it to 9mm. But the base gun is over 900$. But like everything it be close to 2k in Canada.

These are pretty awesome, are kits still available for this conversion? If my new to me No.4 has a pooched barrel this would be something I’d do if I could get a kit still. I already load for .45auto and have plenty of components, would love compact bolt action rifle in a pistol caliber.

Wolverines is the CND business that handle these. I'm sure more will come, they come with a threaded barrel option now.

The one thing I don't like is, because I had to lower the adapter to have less resistance on the bolt. It's sounds like a rock in a bottle. So be working on shims or spacer for the adapter. Might look at tackling the extractor with the 762 ones, as the modded one is flat so it pushes the round and don't quite ride over the rim. So if you don't use a mag the bolt won't close.

Last round of the mag always stick in the action. Oh and it cycles SWC.

Thanks, I was just doing some googling. Definitely would be a fun project, I’ve got a bunch of 1911 mags already.

I mean don't expect it to run smooth like a 303 British or butter, It's rougher than a rusty mosin. Don't expect 100% ejection. But it was working better than I thought. Will need to tweak with it alot.

Understood, I still think it would be better that a parts gun. Which I hopefully do not have lol, but if I do have a roached barrel it would be fun to do the conversion.

I honestly enjoy tinkering with things to get them running right anyway, hell I still haven’t given up on the pos Turkish 1911 I have and that’s saying something. Laugh2

The company has a how too instruction page. Guess your fight would be to get the old barrel off and find some headspace gauges.

Just a heads up for anyone looking to get one of these, Wolverine currently has a couple of the non threaded barrel kits in stock. They said they will be receiving a shipment shortly as well with the bull barrel kits with threaded barrels, prices will likely go up a bit from the previous batch.

Their website is screwed up at the moment so call and talk to someone if you are looking for one. If their website is accurate they have two left.

Question for you guys that have built one, I see both MK1 and MK2 rear sights being used. Which rear sight do you find works best, the 300/600 flip or the micrometer? I don’t see this being shot further than 100 for shíts and giggles so the micrometer seems like it would be overkill.

I think a red dot would be a nice setup, I have the weaver T-01 mount and iirc there’s picatinny to dovetail rails available.

Mine arrived in the mail today and surprise surprise, it has a threaded muzzle. I figure I should be able to machine a front sight block that threads on, or if the muzzle od is close enough I can ream out the No.4 front sight to fit the barrel and make a thread protector easily enough.

Is yours 5/8x24? I measured my bayonet lug on my No4. You should be able to turn one down to fit the .710" barrel. It's something I'm thinking of doing.

I'm not really liking the chin weld. Oh TNA sells SS thread protectors 5/8 and 3/4" long for the 5/8 thread.

Tikka T3 arctic has a front sight that threads onto 5/8x24

It looks like 5/8x24, I’ll have to pull a thread protector off another rifle I have that is threaded for that and check.

In the meantime I have a short piece of pic rail I can mount to the Weaver T-01 rail that the rifle originally had mounted, a red dot will work till I sort out a front sight solution. If this Enfield shoots better since bedding the action I’ll have to decide if I’m going to use it for the conversion or keep it as a .303 bush/truck gun, either way a rds will be fun on it.

....

The holes will not align with your point of impact after all the redesign. The flippy sight is the easiest to modify if you decide to weld up the holes and drill new ones up or down. The original Delisle had a ramp on the barrel, so let that be your clue.
