M14 Stock! *New Stock is Here! Pics posted*

muskwa is correct.... if you look at the pics posted on page 2 that show the chu wood stock inletting side by side with this fellows new stock, the areas that the chu woods stock liner occupy, are solid wood on the boyd stock. Glass bedding is intended for this stock. However, some folks go the extra bit and tool out the stock to use the stock liner... I would say it is optional which way you go.

My Boyd stock needed the stock liner and was inletted for it. Didn't look at the pic closely enough; was working from memory. Shouldn't ASSume! :D

yep, as was posted, the Standard Boyds stocks need the Liner and the National match one doesn't.... I'm going to glass bed the national match and there really isn't a reason to try to hack the chew metal liner in there.

Sorry, Dunno where you can find another NM stock... I was lucky to find the one I did at champions choice.

And if you try to export ANY M14 parts, you'll need the export permit. The M1A is NOT an M14. It's a commercial rifle. Hence, no export permit required for M1A parts.

I don't know about that one, Its all a matter of wording, for example E-Gun parts lists them as M14 parts like most other US based stores do, so you DO need a import/export permit according to E-Gun Parts to order from Canada. Sort of like how you need a import/export permit to get M16/AR-15 parts from the USA. They are "one and the same" I guess. :(

M14/M1A Stock

Check out these stocks. I'm not sure if they've been around for a while but it's the first time I see them.

I don't know why there's an X instead of image. It's been doing that when I go through threads in the forums which it didn't do before. Any reason in particular?

if it's manufactered as a bullpup..... such as the Tavor ..... it's legal
bull pupping a m14 would not be legal as far as I know.

Thats what I was thinking, if its made as a bullpup and the stock is NESSEARY to be used cause the bolt rides on inserts in the stock like many new bullpup designs then its ok.

If you can remove the stock and it still is held together and can be shot then its not ok. The M14/M1A CAN be shot probably without a stock by putting the receiver assembly in a vice after taking it out of the stock and tapping the firing pin. But I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT!

Edit, I guess in a a way if you put the receiver in a "proper" vice to securely hold the barreled action, then I guess you just made yourself a benchrest rail gun out of a M14. That just gave me a idea to annoy the bolt action bench rest rifles that have thouse fancy custom guns made up to shoot tiny groups without having to hold the action just weight it down enough on the table it wont move on recoil. :p
