Hello fellow pew pew people.
I am looking at getting a 1911 and I’m kinda stuck in my decision I’m looking at the Girsan MC1911 Standard 5inch 45 or the RIA 1911 5 inch 45. They are both nice and I don’t know which one is better all around I’ve been looking at other forums online and it’s a draw. What do you all think and have any advice or thoughts?
If you have either what do you think about what you have.
I have lots of magazines already and an uncle mikes holster.
What should I be looking at?
MC1911 Standard or the RIA 1911 a1 GI

Thanks

I have the RIA.
I’ve changed out the trigger as the original really sucked.
And I also changed the sights and a few other parts.
It’s a nice gun now.

I have a SAM. And lucky it was gifted to me, because I would not have bought it. While it looks nice, the internals are all busted from too light of a recoil spring installed. Father and a friend has the 45 version and they mangle cases. Honestly I would recommend the Norc.

I actually came across a steal of a deal and got a Springfield Armory 1911 (MC Operator) A1 loaded for 450 shipped.

There was a rem 1911 at a local store for $550 , display model.

I’d get something like that before either of the two you mentioned.

Girsan MC1911 is a good gun, never owned it but shot with it...

I'm really partial to my Nork. Better steel, accurate, and it works.

I'll second this. I have a friend who has two Colt 1911's...my Norinco is not as well finished, but even he admits it is every bit as accurate...and is darned reliable.

I almost hate to say it but if you can pick up one of those Made In China 1911's on the cheap, do it. I thought I would never buy a Norinco but I was offered a barely shot Norc for a low price. I was thinking about a project gun when low and behold, one popped up. With some light internal polishing, spring changes, extractor, mag catch and sear spring tweaking, the damn thing shoots as well as my STI Trojan. Even with a somewhat sloppy barrel bushing.

Get a brand name 1911. Ruger and Remington come to mind in the $750/$950 range.

You won’t have to monkey it with upgrade or changes. Out of the box they work and keep a better value than a cheap Chinese Nork.

I was in the same camp as you. Even 1911's costing several hundreds more can and sometimes do have issues out the box. I picked up my Norc cheap. I already had 1911 springs on hand worth about $30. About 3 hours of my time and now I have a nice shooter for very little money.

Another vote for the norinco 1911 .
Part of the fun/joy of a 1911, is being able to personalize it to your liking, a little or a lot , just like AR's .

Yes, this!

Another 'crappy' econo Nor 1911 I'm fond of......

It's one of the earlier 'compact' models.... I ditched the extended slide stop for a standard one; installed an adjustable trigger & replaced the cheap rubber grips for some double diamond hardwoods.

Those look nice however I’m not really looking at a Norinco as I don’t want any issues bring it to the USA if I have to move there for my job. My budget is between $500 - $700 and my top picks as of right now are the SDS Imposts 1911, MC1911 Standard RIA 1911a1 GI. I’ve looked at all the other once’s out there like Norinco and SAM but these are my top for my price range. What are your thoughts and what one is the best in all your opinions
