its not a question of whether or not the distance is exaggerated... its a case of whether or not the shooter simply BS'ed where he was standing when he took the shot... this isnt a case of mis judged distance...
the opinion of many is that offhand for a guy who hasn't shot a box worth of rounds in 2 years of hunting is that he is full of crap...
I wasn't able to get home and grab the rest before dark so I tried a couple shots off the hood of my truck, for the life of me I cant hit a sheet of plywood at that distance (GPS'ed 540 meters) with any accuracy at all... but I can hit it ...
So now knowing what to expect...Im going to call him out and have him prove it... I think the safe bet is going to be a hundred dollars, offhand 600 yards, he has to hit a 2x4 foot piece of plywood mounted horizontally...a fair size target for a guy who can hit a doe in the neck at 600 yards... if he hits it, I'll give him the hundred bones and he gets to claim the all time best shooter at the bar badge...
