Hey all,
Just wondering why we never hear anything about the M&P rifle? Is it because it is unavaliable here or just overpriced? Anyone own one ?

S&W is still out-sourcing most major parts, just not as many as before. They're still basically AR-15 assemblers, not manufacturers. Its a fine rifle, but I don't see paying hundreds of dollars extra for a laser engraved S&W logo.

Last I heard only the lower receiver was made in house. Either way, still an overpriced AR.

The price went down big sown south. On Black friday, you could get a M&P for 999$, and with a Sigma for an xtra 99$. They were about 100$ more than a Bushmaster

I don't see them being exported here for a decent price. And with the amount of LEO using S&W products here, the only way to get one will probably be Questar, and the price will likely be too similar to a LMT to bother

S&W Can't get export permits for the M&P AR-15 to Canada.
In the configurations they sell it in, US Department of State won't let them ship it to Canada. (Telescoping Stocks, Threaded barrels. M4 Classification)
This was the story from S&W at SHOT last year, and I assume it hasn't changed.

Homeland Security, what a joke they are! To many things banned for export!

That's about the stupidest thing I've heard come from the State Dept. bureaucrats in a couple of months. Aside from the laser engraving, STAG has been selling the exact same rifle in Canada for several years.

No they haven't, any Stag that have come into Canada since 2005 have been custom made to meet DOS export regulatory approval.

As to S&W and Stag, AFAIK, I understand that S&W has been assembling more and more in-house, as they become able to, as planned.

From what I have heard, they can't export because Homeland doesn't want anything with 5.56 on it exported. They ( S&W) may just change the 5.56 to 223 Rem.

That's what I understood from last year when I asked here about them. I like the M&P15T with the rails and covers and the folding front and rear sights. Who makes a similar model that we can get up here? Cost?

Silly US laws...

Hello,

I think few of us who are interested in the M&P 15T , should email as many dealers as possible in CANADA and maybe one of them would take the challenge on ordering some for the menbers who are interested.

Thanks.
