I've got this project on the go and felt it needed a single point sling. I've never been happy with single points mounted via a strap around the wrist of the stock and I don't have the cash to buy a VLTOR or SEI or Sage that's ready to hook a single point sling up to.

There was a link posted here to a M1A project last week and it got me thinking. Rather than mount the forward sling mount to the side of the stock, like the linked project, I installed a swivel from a Turk Mauser. Thanks to 10x for digging in his junk box for the swivel.

Hey, it works right? Who cares what it looks like, if it works for ya then go for it and nice work.

Nice! It appears the screws are holding alright in the usgi stock? I foresee a project in the near future.

They're machine screws with nuts on the inside of the stock. I built up the inside of the stock with some JB weld to spread the load over a greater area as well.

I like the looks of that. I painted my M14 stock the exact same color looks good. Krylon olive drab ftw :D. I didn't realize they had Magpuls for M14 mags, mind if I ask where you got a hold of that ?

Hey, only two negative-ish comments, that's pretty good! I'll align the screw slots for you maple_leaf_eh, I don't want to disturb the harmonious arrangement of parts.;)

FWIW, the paint isn't finished. I shot some OD and black on it to see how it would stick, then I got carried away and sprayed the rest (mostly). I'll be doing the stock this weekend. I honestly don't care how it looks, function is far more important than form on this rifle. It will be on my quad, in my truck, at the farm, and on the range. A pretty rifle will just get beat up anyway.

Has anyone used a Burris Fast-fire yet? I think it and the H1/T1 Aimpoint are the only RDS's that have a chance of co-witnessing on that mount. I test fit my Comp M2 in it's ARMS mount and it was "chin-weld" high.

I got those Magpuls from Wolverine. Dave's also has them listed and they're available in black/OD/tan.

That OD krylon paint is sweet. I used it on my spare glasses and watch that I wear in the field, and my ruck frame. I look for any reason to spray something with that stuff. The xbox and lap top barely escaped one of my spray painting rampages.

JD, I've got three colours of krylon and flat black bbq paint, look out!!!!

Looks great! Align the screw slots?? Puleeease! The stock needs a pistol grip too! :D

I was thinking about you and a pistol grip, but then I remembered you retired from the the stock modding gig.:p

That is really sweet! Great job! Lets go shooting over the holidays....

Absolutely, let me know when you're available.:ar15:

I may be picking up where DaveGP left off as far as stocks are concerned..... I have literally piles of usgi stocks on the way ;) all my trips to reno last spring are starting to pay off :D

I really like that sling rig you have done up there, nice work
