Yeah - hard to keep track any more - I think Vista Outdoors now owns Bushnell. And Browning Optics, and Simmons, and Tasco. And probably some more brands. At least they own those brand names, I think. I am sure they market whatever model names they can come up with - made wherever - so not like a difference, very much, any more - likely is all about cost to produce versus what it can sell at...
I am old enough to remember when "Made in Japan" was pretty much looked down on like "Made in China / Korea" is now - was sure not viewed as a sign of "quality" - maybe goes to show how much we were / are influenced by advertising and not by actual facts. Tasco, for example, even more convoluted - Tanross Company was in Florida - never owned a factory - never made a thing themselves - would accept orders and have stuff made to specs that buyer wanted - jobbers, contractors, assemblers - often in Japan. As result, some Tasco scopes are / were extremely high end, and some are/were abject crap - was whatever the wholesaler buyer specified for price and for components.
so true my: dad purchased a nissan cedric 220 diesel and the mercedes owners at the time were not very happy: price was less and way better built ...
