Bushnell Elite scopes?

Yeah - hard to keep track any more - I think Vista Outdoors now owns Bushnell. And Browning Optics, and Simmons, and Tasco. And probably some more brands. At least they own those brand names, I think. I am sure they market whatever model names they can come up with - made wherever - so not like a difference, very much, any more - likely is all about cost to produce versus what it can sell at...

I am old enough to remember when "Made in Japan" was pretty much looked down on like "Made in China / Korea" is now - was sure not viewed as a sign of "quality" - maybe goes to show how much we were / are influenced by advertising and not by actual facts. Tasco, for example, even more convoluted - Tanross Company was in Florida - never owned a factory - never made a thing themselves - would accept orders and have stuff made to specs that buyer wanted - jobbers, contractors, assemblers - often in Japan. As result, some Tasco scopes are / were extremely high end, and some are/were abject crap - was whatever the wholesaler buyer specified for price and for components.

so true my: dad purchased a nissan cedric 220 diesel and the mercedes owners at the time were not very happy: price was less and way better built ...

The new Bushnell Elite 4500 4x is made in south korea and is a fine little scope with great glass and low light clarity.

I think at 355 shipped for this lil 2.5-10 30mm scope is a steal when comparing to leupold vx freedom 3-9 1 inch at 500 shipped

I have four Elite 3500's and had two Elite Tactical 6500's and all are made in Japan. Excellent coatings, bright and dependable hunting scopes. I have had zero failures with them.

One our site sponsors has them on NOS clearance for $260. Unbeatable.

For the record bushnell just brought out a new elite 4500 this year and it’s made in Korea. All older ones are made in Japan! The new elite tactical models are still being made in Japan. Japanese ones are real good I am not sure about the Korean made ones.

Don't buy any 6500 Elite Tactical they're junk.
Put them on the EE for cheap.
Especially the First Focal Plane with G3 or Horus H59 reticles.

Tongue in cheek:)

Great bang for the buck scope. Had atleast one of each over the years. Still regret selling a 2.5-16 6500...

Would you know of some of tasco's scopes to look for?

An acquaintance more familiar than I suggests that the Tasco Titian (Titan?) or their "World Class" were probably equivalent or better than the Leupold and Redfields of that time. Is a bit of a "thing" to even figure out what is a "Tasco" scope - not all the same, at all - for example, go to the SWFA website and read their introduction - "Tasco" was making the scopes for the US Navy shooters - they won that bid competition against Schmidt & Bender, Leupold, etc. US Navy apparently set the specs - bidders had to provide that product. US Navy chose the Tasco submission.

I have an older "Tasco" with a silver antelope head on the side of the turret. I still do not know what Model that is. But, currently, there is a "Tasco" Silver Antelope model - does not have that symbol on it - just the words - made in Korea, I think - not the same scopes, at all...

the titan were solid good scopes. well used in europe but some people cannot go above tasco name .... bushnell elite 4200 or the ones made in japan are hard to destroy and trust i make all the effort i can on it ... i destroyed few leupolds never those bushnell ...

Tradex still has one or two 3-9x50 Elites in stock (I use one on my CZ 557 with high Warnes QD rings). Another non-site sponsor has a few sizes for $299 (Google is your friend). These scopes are better than many scopes costing much more--and I've owned my share of over-priced junk! Not much left in Canadian inventories though.

The Japan Elites have quality rugged internals... good luck finding that today in scopes twice as much.

I tried to buy one of the 3-9X40s from the non-site sponser. They wanted $65 dollars to ship it, even after I called them and said they were not even close to the actual cost of $15.

No thank you. :)
