Has anyone tried or been using this stuff? I have for awhile now and although it states that it won’t cause rust I have a factory savage that says otherwise. I use this on this savage because it has a rough bore and collects a lot of copper. But this last time I noticed some rust in the action area because of the foam coming out of the bore as it expands and sits in just before chamber area. Also I took it out of the fibreglass stock to find more rust around action area probably because foam expanded into action area. I lost confidence in this stuff although I don’t have to slave away putting patches down the barrel.

There are posters on this site that shoot that stuff into the bore and store their rifle barrel muzzle down - just left like that until next use - patch it out when they want to use it... I am easily on my 6th or 7th can of it - I do not recall ever seeing your experience - I had thought the stuff was actually a preservative... I do use the little extension hose with the nozzle end that goes into the chamber - so not much, if any, comes back out into the action??

I have been using Wipeout for many years, love the stuff.
I start by running a few patches soaked in Mercury Quicksilver Power Tune to get rid of the carbon fouling ,then I use the accelerator, and then the Wipeout overnight, then dry the bore.
After I patch it out I run a patch or two of G96 through the barrel, never an issue .

I just run a dry patch through after using Wipe Out... and you can leave it in the bore for many hours if you want... I don't understand this problem of rust...

I only use it in the bore... not the chamber or the action.

The problem is it expands like great stuff and when I pull the hose out of the chamber it rises out of it.

from the wipeout instructions
Because WIPE-OUT ™ contains 3 anti corrosive ingredients it is not necessary to put oil in the bore. The oil will increase carbon deposits. This will also remove the necessity of taking fouling shots. Your first shot will in the middle of the group.

I recommend you purchase a quality bore guide to avoid this issue in the future. Possum Hollow or Dewey have been good for me.

Wipeout instructions say you don't have to oil it. I don't believe that. I always oil the bore with G96 and run a dry patch before I go shooting or hunting. Cleaner for cleaning, oil for protecting. That approach has never done me wrong.

I bought the "Patch Out" formulation. It's liquid and I wet a patch to apply it. Less messy than expanding foam.

I always oil the bore after using Wipeout or Patch Out, regardless of what the manufacturer claims.

I do the same with Patch Out. Found Wipe Out too messy. Use it in conjunction with Accelerator works pretty good. Regardless I always put a patch with oil down the barrel after and dry patch prior to shooting.

I use about a 8 inch piece of clear tubing jammed up into the front of the chamber/throat and leave it there for about 10 minutes or more...this tubing fits on the nozzle tight... the foam has quit expanding long before I remove the tubing. I hold the barrel in a vise muzzle down slightly.

I have never experienced any rusting problem using Wipe Out.

Good one! I went a bit further and found a tube of Aeroshell Grease 64 - is apparently what modern Swiss use as "waffenfett" - gun grease - they slather it along the bore to preserve it until next use.

A picture provided on a recent CGN thread - the "Waffenfett" product now being sold in Europe?? Note the English on the label - "Aeroshell Grease 64".
