Best budget 1911 no norincos

Anyone have a para?

The US paras before Remington bought and moved them were essentially parts built guns, a lot of ed brown parts fitted and coated at the factory. They are nice smooth guns with no love up here because of the move to the US in the right hands (I’m not that good) I’ve seen a mag run through it and shot a 2” group @ 20yard in under 5 seconds surprised the shooter because he believed all the bad thing about para when they moved. You can find unfired experts on here for $500-600. I have an elite and it ran like a sewing machine from day one only change I made was I put aluminum grips on it for move traction; should probably put a set of springs in it as it has 4-5000 rnds through it now but it’s timing hasn’t affected its reliability yet. They had a super Gucci model “tac-ops?” with factory mag well and all the trimmings. The iffy ones were when Remington moved they and used the para name to work out all the kinks in the new facility and burned the brand pretty good then they switched over to the Remington name killing the brand completely.

And you are also directly supporting the CCP.

Perhaps some people have some ethics.

So are you... I can go on for hours, at what you have. That is made in China. You cannot really avoid it.

Personally I cannot recommend my SAM 9mm 1911. It came with too light of springs and it beat itself to ####. The spring guide bashed into forward of the link pin on the barrel. I never seen that type of damage on a 1911.

Can't say I've bought anything directly from a CCP controlled company, at least not in the recent past.

Sure you have..

$10 spring would have prevented that.

Para-Ord

Anyone have a para?

Yes and I built alot while I was there.

Recently built one using a CF Edition Frame and a Black Ops Slide, as I never purchased one while I was there. Guess building and test shooting them daily was enough for me at the time.

The older/original Cdn made ones were of good quality, but started suffering towards the mid nineties on the MIM internals. I have a friend who has one of the original DS frames from when they came out before completed units. It probably upwards of 9k rounds through it's still like a timex and ticking along nicely.

An older Cdn version of a 18/9 (you mentioned 9mm) in a standard or limited edition could be a viable option if you want the double stack. They do seem to be commanding a premium on the used market. A GI Expert is another if your looking for the Classic 1911 looks of a single stack & GI Sights. I was never a fan of the PXT (power extractor upgrade) when they first came out, so I can't recommend models with those.

The only problem or possible issue I see would be finding a replacement barrel easily further down the road. Para uses the Para/Clark ramp, not the Wilson/Nowlin cut thats predominate in ramped 1911's. Brownells offers Kart replacements if you can find someone to import them.

Para's are just like most 1911's, they require a bit of tinkering to run how you want it to.

my last word apply directly to your stand ...

There's a big difference.

Norinco is owned and controlled by the CCP.

While Western ran companies having some production in China, and reliance on Chinese production in some form is a huge problem, there's a huge difference between directly supporting a CCP owned company, and a western ran company that happens to get some parts manufactured in China.

As you point out, it's pretty much impossible to purchase any products that have no involvement from China along the way. Western ran companies really ought to rethink where they are doing business - at the sake of profits, their IP is getting ripped off and replicated. This is an especially huge problem in advanced technologies such as superconductors.

I won't pretend that nothing in my house had some involvement with China's manufacturing industry. No one does. But I don't spend any of my $ to directly supporting the CCP.

If you have no moral or ethical problems with the CCP, then by all means, buy a Norinco and directly support them with your dollars. That's your business. But if you are critical of the CCP and yet still buy Norinco, then you are a pretty big hypocrite.

so you re telling you know that your purchase products from china but you do not know if they re related to the ccp or not lol ... do you think you can produce in china without the approval of ccp. it is hypocrite to boycot one product but not others ... as at the end you re supporting ccp with your money if we follow your lead ...

I don't buy, and basically boycott Chinese tires for my vehicles...because they suck. CCP sucks too but thats not why I stay away from them lol.
There are some Chinese guns in my safe, not many, and none are pistols, had a few of the 1911's over the years, but could never warm up to them. Too loose and sloppy, happy with the Phillipines 1911's for the prices.

No.

You clearly don't understand the nuance in what I'm saying.

involving or deserving a lot of thought, attention, or work= serious……spending 900+ $ on a pistol is a serious matter. Thanks for your response meroh

After researching prices a new 1911 mil spec, a ruger sr1911, or a r1 rem are all over a grand. Is the r1 by Remington as good as a ruger or a Springfield. Quality of steel and parts?

If grip size is the factor... CZ with thin grip panels are thinner than a 1911. I have 2 1911s, but my Shadow has a thinner grip.

I wear a large medical type glove, have no problems shooting a m9, do not care for the fat grip but it is ok, see what you mean, you really need to want a 1911, because it appears you get a lot more cz for the money.

I have always shot a 1911 well, they just seem to point well, guess I should have kept that series80 colt from the early nineties lol
