3 guns with the same problem on the same day, sounds like an epidemic to me. Is there a vaccine for the Turkey virus yet? Maybe they should self isolate....
I've got a Mossberg Silver Reserve. Bought it used about 4 years ago from a friend who only put a box or 2 thru it and decided he didn't like it. Shot a lot of skeet with it, sometimes 400 rounds a month. Broke a fireing pin earlier this summer. I replaced both pins, and recently it started punching thru the primer in the upper barrel. Upper barrel pin had a burr on the end. Smoothed the end of the pin and it still punches thru the primer about every 5 or 6 rounds.. an improvement over every round, but still unacceptable in my opinion. Time for a trip to the gunsmith I think.
A few people I shoot with have Stoegers, a Churchhill, and a Huglu showed up this year. All Turkish shotguns.... all good performers. My son has a Cannuck o\u that has perfomed flawlessly. He has had it almost as long as I've had my Mossberg.

Were they the lower end (fixed stock) ou's or the higher end ("fully adjustable trap") ou's they sell? I was told by one of the Khan importers that their lower end guns are designed for hunting, i.e. not a significant round count. Whereas their higher end models are designed for sporting use, i.e. a much higher round count. I'm curious as I'm in the market for my first O/U and am currently considering the TriStar/Canuck line. They are the only O/U guns I liked under $2k.
They were the $750 new canuck ou.
I hear tristar has improved but i own a setter and its been absolutely pathetic. Other than being a lesson in gunsmithing id have dropped it over the side of the boat. Great bluing but thats it. I refuse to sell it because i dont want to pass on the problems and risk my reputation.
But ive read the newer ones are better so good luck

My best Grouse gun is an AYA Model 3. A , S x S in 28 ga. , with 27" barrels choked IC & Mod.
Almost as good is another AYA Model 25 Box Lock , S x S , with 25" barrels choked the same.
Both have English grip.
Other older S x S 's include ; Ithaca Flues ( 16 & 20) , Geco in 16 ga.
Then the top end ,,,,, Winchester Model 21 , in 16 ga. , with 26" barrels in IC & M . English grip
single trigger ( all the rest DT.).

What relevance does any of this have to the topic of this thread?
I think I've seen enough to talk me out of the Canucks and the Tristars. I started to type up a reply here hours ago when I had narrowed my options down to a Huglu, Churchill, or a Stoeger Condor Competition (all ~ $1k). After re-reading the mostly positive sentiment here about Huglus and Churchills, I think I'm going to stick between the two. Passing on Dickinson for now as the OUs don't seem to be stocked anywhere in Canada.
I'm looking for a jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none gun for trap, skeet, and sporting clays. 12 gauge, single selective trigger, removable chokes. Preferably a manual safety.
Churchill 206 Orcap II ticks all the boxes except the safety. I can drive to and see this one before buying.
Huglu is going to be harder as there are 7 units that tick almost all the boxes for me. I can't get to Prophet River to try one out. (brybenn, I think I read earlier that none of your Huglu OUs are 12ga)

That Orcap II is certainly a nice looking gun. I've never had one apart but auto safeties generally are not too difficult to get rid of.
I've been happy with my Yildiz O/U...but it's a .410 that has only seen approximately 1000 rounds.
I don't think I'd buy a Turkish gun for any serious shooting, but for occasional 5 stand, skeet, and bunnies, the price was right and it has surprisingly nice wood.

I have a Churchill 206 Orcap. Its a really nice gun. May very replace my Brownings
My huglus are 20ga and 410. Theyre built on a true scaled frame. Ive seen many churchill 206 at the clubs and all worked right. Almost bought one myself but ended up with a beretta a400 instead. If i were looking for a 12ga ou at the lower price scale id Definately buy another huglu from prophet river. My next ou will likely be a beretta silver pigeon because i like them and dont have one. Sad thing is ill have to order new wood if i want it to look half as good as a huglu

On another note...this past summer I was squadded with a fellow at the SK Provincials in Swift Current who was shooting a Churchill Trap Combo...after we finished shooting we were standing around chatting and that is when I noticed his gun as he was taking the single barrel off and putting on the O/U barrels. I took an interest in it and asked him about the gun. During the course of the conversation and him saying how much he liked the gun etc he said it was his third in 4 seasons, the first one having failed and being replaced by the factory. The first one was returned for warranty and returned to him "repaired" yet failed again and the problem could not be rectified a second time so a replacement was sent to to him. The second gun failed within 500 rounds and was replaced with the current and third gun but in that he lost a full season awaiting a gun. This third one he said was working great and had 3000 rds down the pipe. He was very pleased with the gun and somehow in his mind felt spending $3100 on it beat spending more for a known brand as long as the company kept replacing them if they failed...but we know once that warranty runs out that is not going to happen, the same with any brand but when it does and they can't fix the issue like his second gun then what? You are out a gun and buying again. At least with the known long running brands with good reputations and part availability a fix is available, warranty or not. I wish him well with it but I wouldn't hold my breath expecting it to make multiple seasons....

I have four just because they were 28ga and had to be added to the 28ga herd . IMHO nothing wrong with them for hunting or at least the ones I have but I cannot see them holding up for years with heavy target shooting a few 1000 a year maybe fine but not 25,000 like some old guns I have here seen
Mine are weatherby and two CZ and a Akkar pump which is just barely OK

It's too bad he only owns one shotgun. I also have a pump and semi, and I would just bring one as a backup.
That would have been my guess too, but:
Seems like a strange thing to do voluntarily, instead of showing up to the next game with another gun you already have.

Many shooters do not own an identical back-up trap combo and when you shoot registered you tend to want to stick to the gun that you use for that purpose. He said he just shot informal trap until the gun he uses for registered came in.....I guess I should have clarified that for the guys who do not shoot registered targets.....I own several guns myself but only two trap guns, my dedicated singles gun and my dedicated doubles gun. I don't have a back-up to each though my doubles gun would be back-up to my singles gun if it went down.

I took 2 Remingtons to make it through a 400 target shoot, can't imagine how many I'd have needed to get through a 1000-2000 target shoot? Might explain why one of the fellows we shoot with who has been shooting 1100's for close to 40 years carries 3-6 with him to every shoot! For that kind of $ I can shoot one Perazzi and save a ton of trunk space!
