6.5 PRC load data,accuracy, etc

HMM !
No one gets the FPS Hornady achieves ?? 3150 FPS with a 140 ? There test barrel length is 26 BUT still there nearly 150 FPS faster then any one I know or have read about - my built is a 24 “ - I was hoping for at least 3100 FPS with a 140 - RJ
Well according to their data I’m losing about 90 FPS per inch, that’s quite the performance loss…
I know all calibers are different, but I tested a .308 barrel and was losing an average of 18 FPS per inch.

Not saying that Hornady did not get the speed they reported - but not many others do. Like Nosler - 165 grain in 30-06 - 3,000 fps plus with RL-22 in their 24" barrel - not seeing much other pressure tested data getting that speed with that powder and bullet weight. Can just keep shoving in more powder to get there, I guess, but then likely way over the SAAMI standard for 30-06 pressure - is an issue for some, apparently not for others? My son and I have taken multiple dozen deers - in my case since 1976 - same rifle - 165 grain bullets - a 308 Win - when load finally chronographed was at 2,800 fps muzzle, more or less. Not sure how the Nosler load for 30-06 is "better" for getting deer?

I had read on this CGN website that changing case brands (internal volume), changing primers (amount and duration of flame) or bullet (response to pressure within the barrel) can each have as much effect as two additional or less grains of powder. So, if not replicating exact complete recipe of components that was tested - same case, same primer, same bullet - is quite reasonable to get different results?

I bought a 6.5 prc from a fella on the west coast. He also gave me a box of his handloads (nice guy). I was getting 40'/sec more velocity here at 3500' than he was at sea level with his handloads. Both measured with Labradar. At least I attributed it to the elevation change.
Maybe they are testing theirs at 8000' lol

how many rounds down the barrel when you got it? I've seen rifles speed up 125 fps from the first 50 rounds to when it had 100-200 rounds down it with the exact same factory ammo

I believe it had about 100 through it. I had the labradar on it for the first shots I fired.

Good luck on that. I was able to snag 180 cases, plus a box of factory. It's hard to find.
No kidding heh, I’m after calling everywhere in Canada .. lol
I got 100 pcs to hold me over, should be enough to burn out this barrel.

Always good to have extra though.

Brass is hard to find for sure.

I am glad I found this thread it has lots of data.

I have a mix of Gunwerks, Hornady and ADG brass. I have some N565 and N568 on the way. Looking to send both 127gr LRX and 156gr EOL downrange as those are really the only two I currently have. Would love to get 140 GMX at some point just to try.

I have some IMR 8133 just havent gotten around to using it. When the other two show up Ill do some testing.
