Hope you like $2500 Type 81s. I move stuff by air for a living, it wouldn’t be my choice on my dime for heavy shipment of steel items.

So at EE prices then ?

Well at least it'd be unfired for sure.

That aside, air freight can be expensive, but with a bit of work / research it doesn't have to be.

Yes it does, aircraft are the most expensive way to move freight, period. ;) Not that it can be expensive it is expensive. Especially dense and heavy items likes guns and accessories that’d be about the worst sort of load, no getting around it. What a truck will move for a few grand without emptying the container and repackaging in lighter containment the plane will bill a dozen times to move.

The best solution here is to remain patient and eat some stale Christmas cookies to pass the time, and refrain from attempts to plan logistics unless you work for TI and that’s one’s profession. As for EE prices, people are free to ask what they value their own item at… it’s theirs. I sold mine at what it cost me and paid shipping on my own dime. You get the full latitude and freedom in deciding what you are willing to pay, beauty of a free market.

I never missed out on any of the type 81 sales. How can you miss it? Last time, it took like almost 8 hours before the first one (naked folder) was sold out.

As to EE prices, buy it or move on. None of those are selling at the advertised price. Sure, buy something else, I looked and couldn't find anything else at that price point. I have been buying Norinco products for many years now and yes, you get what you pay for (which is way less than any other manufacturer). The time of the $500 M14 is gone.

I'm late to this thread. Without reading back 20 pages can someone tell me if it is just the special edition coming in, or the standard versions as well.

TI claimed they had them back in mid December but were waiting until after the holidays so they wouldn't be rushed with orders. They said either the 3rd or 4th of January but on the 3rd they made a comment on this thread saying they were having issues and wouldn't be able to list them until "sometime next week".

This is the second shipping release of the Type 81 SE production run, with one or two more shipments to go. No more standard rifle versions will be produced, unless a non-Chinese military decides to buy them and TI piggybacks an order. If you want the original blond furniture, TI may have some spares for sale, or you could see if you can purchase them from someone who has completely Bubbaed their Type 81 :)

Another option is purchasing the LMG, which is still in stock at TI and other places. If you remove the carrying handle and bipod, you have a longer, heavier barreled version of the rifle with a thicker stock, and it comes in the blonde furniture.

Ok perfect. Thanks for the info. Guess I'll get a SE then, I was just curious if both were enroute. What was the price difference between the standard and SE?

$1000 for the blonde but that was pre May 1st. SE cherry wood versions are $1200. I have both and prefer the blonde/blued over the cherry/phosphate.

The LMG is the best QC of all of them.

I prefer the cherry and phosphate by a large margin it reminds me of the AKMs ive handled
