It would be interesting to know how much this rifle would sell for in Canada, since the Mauser 18 without sights in 308 is approximately $700 to $900

Why would anyone want this? Honest question.
My thought exactly, why not just buy a regular M18 and be done with it but as they say, “different strokes”.
The iron sights, since very few rifles are available with iron sights in Canada, also the Ruger GSR is now very difficult to buy and is approximately $1600-$1700. These rifles are meant for hunting in the woods (waldjagd - hunting in the woods) and they have a short heavy medium weight barrel of 20 inches, where as the Mauser 18 without iron sights the barrel length is 22 inches. The factory that makes these rifles in Germany also manufacturers the Sauer and Blaser firearms. The Mauser importer in Canada is MD Charlton, however I tried contacting them but I never heard back from them. A comparable rifle would be the Tikka Battue, however the Tikka has a single stack magazine while the Mauser has a double stack magazine.
Quality of modern Mausers are significantly overestimated since they went from M03 to M12 it was a huge step back. M18 is the most budget budget thing they could do.
This is probably the closest to what you want:

Tikka battue is also cheap, short, fiber optic irons. Tikka Arctic has way better irons if this is the main thing for you.

Ive never owned one but from examining a few the quality of manufacture seems on par with the options from tikka and Sauer. CZ is apparently quality as well but I am starting to suspect kurgan is a paid influencer![]()
Well, I was influenced, as I have a 600 on order.
Worked on me too, when I have the scratch I will get an Alpha in 8x57 if any are available. Wish you could get them with sights and the med heavy barrel, might have to happen on its own
I'd rather try the Mauser than the CZ and Tikka as well.
And I've had CZ 557s and Tikkas.
Pretty sure I'd get the quality I was paying for, unless there is demonstrably something wrong on them.
