Recommend me a Semi Auto 22

I've been where you are now.

Unfortunately, (for me anyway) there isn't a single newly manufactured Semi .22 made by anybody that I find appealing.

I've owned a few semi's but they all got sold because their appeal wore off. I keep looking to add one to the cabinet but nada so far.
However, the CZ512 keeps making the "list" and there's a "tactical" version if you're into that.
The Marin 60 with laminate stock and tube mag(post#3) makes my "list" too......

I like the Kriss. ...

For the looks cool factor, it's hard to beat the Kriss. If it checks all the boxes for you, you should do fine getting one used, they seem to hold their value fairly well once the initial "out the door" depreciation happens. You'll probably want an optic on it, figure that in the budget.

The only other current factory option that comes to mind would be the Savage A22 Precision / Precision Lite. A bit of different look, and lets you use common 25rd mags.

Or you can go the chassis route, which is kind of a different question.

What's your favorite semi auto 22?

I've owned a few and feel like I need one in my collection, my problem is that I find them boring to shoot when compared to a AR.

I've had multiple Ruger 10/22s - stock, tactical, and pimped out versions that always seemed to be ok. The problem is the lack of a 25 round magazine is lame.
I've had GSG 16s, Savages, and Marlins but I keep getting rid of them because they just seem to not be fun shooting off a bench.

All of them were pretty cool, but nothing really stood out.

I'm looking for something semi auto, reliable, decently accurate, and that looks cool.

If you had a budget of $1200, what would you get?

something different will be coming to the EE?

I feel you on that, I have one 22lr semi left and I am debating on whether to sell it.

Out of all the semi-auto 22lr’s I’ve had, the only ones that have stayed around are the HK270, Brno 581 and a couple custom 10/22’s. personally I think building your own 10-22 is the way to go these days. Just so many options pretty tough not to put together exactly what you want. My favourite is the Brno, but it has it’s issues, so I default to the Ruger.

Not much in the way of new semi-auto rimfire rifles that pique my interest these days.

I'd look for a used or NIB Thompson Center R55 All Weather or Benchmark.

Silly accurate, steel receiver and match grade barrel. LSBHO.

Trigger is the only weakness as the pull is quite heavy but can be tweaked for better results.

I'm going to say +1 for the Browning SA22, preferably an FN one which seem to be available, they really are a joy to shoot.

I recall seeing some neat builds around the Henry AR-7 survival if you wanted some sort of project.

You are either reading a different forum, or doing some very selective reading... Because I sure don't see lots of hate
- All I see is a bunch of folks mentioning which semi they like best

"I have one semi auto 22lr left and debating selling it"
"Not much in the new semi auto rimfire rifle that pique my interest these days"
"I have owned a few semi autos but thier appeal wore off"
" There isn't a single newly manufactured semi auto made by anybody that appeals to me"

just some quotes I noticed that are surprising to me that is what I am referring to, no harm intended
cheers

I have soft spot for FN Browning semi autos and Brno 581's

They are both excellent and very reliable.

Both show up on the EE and auctions.

And for fun look at the Beretta Olimpia Super Sport and the Winchester 74

A brno 581 is all i can think of. Get a few extra mags and a nice scope like the leupold 3-9 efr rimfire, which will burn up your 1200

Kriss are every bit as ugly as their PCC counterparts, and I would wager, way heavier than they would need to be.
