Type-81 pictures, range reports, and modifications thread

I didn't order 20, that was a joke but I ordered more than one. I kind of like the idea that you can modify the fixed one but not the folder, have to see when I get them.

Yes true but I like the looks of the barrel on the SE and it's shorter. You can change the fixed stock with some kind of folder and back but you can't change the folder. This has been going on for years. First everybody wanted a folder, then everybody wanted a fixed stock, now back to the folders, lol.
 
I bought my folder back during the first batch. Handling both it and the fixed stock I found the folder to give a much faster cheek weld and sight acquisition. I found the fixed put my cheek weld too high to be conducive to a fast sight picture. That said I had no aspirations to change out the stock, which is apparently easier in the fixed versions.

The concerns with the folders were "bent barrels", which is to say barrels misaligned with the receivers. I have never measured mine to see if it is a victim of this, but it looks and shoots straight.

trappers i know here are using the folder and i really like it as well but after shooting 3 different kinds i really like the stock of regular on lmg as well as the folder and there is no need to change the folder stock imho.

yup, the folders sold out already. i didnt expect that.

i prefer the fixed.... dont like the cheek weld? then you can replace the stock to anything.
 
still got 10% to go and already there is a WTS just got listed for $1800 on EE today. conversely a WTB for $1000, LMAO.

1000 is a low dream where the sks d have been put for over 1200 ...and the t81 is way above an sks d even unfired ...

now what we can have is the people that kept their valmet are not called scammer but at $10000 for some lol ...with the actual politic the t81 maybe become the valmet of 2025 ...

So I think TI has "officially" said that you're not supposed to have a scope that hangs over the action on the pic rail mount, but I kinda want an LPVO on my T81. Has anyone put one on? Did you experience any issues? Any brass strikes?

I honestly think things like ACRs, RFBs, Famaes, M96s, and G36s (relatively rare rifles) are going to be the "Valmets of 2025". They're the ones most likely to slip under the ban hammer. T81 is now almost as ubiquitous as the Cz858 was, and as such will likely be visible enough to be banned whenever Trudeau's handlers feel like throwing a bone to their supporters.
