I agree with this statement, but partially agree with the former. A 30-06 cannot do at 300yds what a 300 Winrem short belted magnum can with 180gr + bullets. Which means that they are identical in paper performance within 85% of normal hunting range. I'll still pack a 300 WM elk hunting when possible, on a long distance/epxpensive trip.
Pathfinder, you need to post pictures when you get the chance. Try to find an old Lyman alaskan, or Leupold Pioneer, maybe a marbles or lyman peep to make it all period. Enjoy!
I never meant to compare the 30-06 to the Win Mag, but the difference is more like 200 yards in the 300s favor before they are identical for velocity and impact. I'm just sick of the attitude that magnum shooters are all retarded. You seldom hear the 30-30 crowd whining that the 30-06 users just need to practice and develope their skills. I wonder why that is?
