Ruger-Made Marlin Lever-Action 1895 SBL Rifle: First Look

New? SBL? $900 before WW upgrades……? That was a fantastic deal!

How far back in time must one go to find thd SBL retailing for around $900? Back to the beginning?

Paid $500 for my JM 45-70 SS, $800 for my 45-70 GS (RM), $900 for my JM 444 XLR stainless, $535 for 3030 336 stainless (RM), $800 for 44mag 1894 (RM). These were all within the past 8yrs. 2.5yrs ago I sold two JM Marlins in excellent plus condition to a friend for $800 each. 45-70 SS and an 1894 38/357.
Going back some 40yrs ago, my first Marlin was $259, 30AS in 3030.
Yes, prices have gone nuts in the past few years and no doubt the pandemic has aided in that.

The information provided thus far would indicate the new Rugers will be a better quality rifle than the average Remington Marlin. I say 'average' as Remington did put out some excellent Marlins if you were allowed to pick through a retailers inventory.
I would like to see what the most up to date price will be on the Henry 'X' rifles in the same calibre? Never owned one however they look quite nice with previous pricing being lower than the this latest Marlin.

cheers,

Just noticed Wolverine is carrying these stocks. Someone may want to pair one with their new Ruger /Marlin

A bunch of the Ruger Marlin SBL .45-70's hit Gunbroker from various vendors... starting prices from $2050 - $3350 USD. Good luck with that.

Limited?

What did I miss?

First Ruger made Marlin limited availability, You will be able to get "other" 45-70's but it won't the First Ruger made limited availability version. Just like they'll do with every caliber going forward, limited release/features until they can ramp up production numbers across the line up to offer slightly lower entry points.

It's pretty obvious on the webpage, right at the top besides the pic says
