CF small arms trial completed

Well... problem solved!

FN is bringing back the Hi-Power this year. https://fnamerica.com/highpower/ We can just get these and have the same gun for another 70-plus years!

Sarcasm over - Obviously not a contender given the criteria of the replacement RFP. But for fans of the old war horse (like me), this is pretty cool nonetheless. It's not just new production of the originals, they've re-designed quite a bit. Increased capacity to 17 rds, new hammer geometry to reduce chance of hammer bite, modern takedown lever... coming in the next couple of months in the US according to their rep at SHOT Show, so I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the wild here before the year is out. Now to sell a kidney so I can buy one...

well perhaps now that CZ owns colt we may see CZ submit something in the new competition

I really don't like glocks, and while some of our european allies issue them I never have shot one that I liked.

I felt the same way about Glocks until i held a 19x and it actually pointed where I was looking without having to fiddle with my grip. Then I felt the trigger and realized how far they've come since the Gen 2 or 3 G17 I tried years ago. Slept on it, went back the next day and bought it. Love the thing.

I still prefer non-polymer pistols. I like the feel of them better. But the latest and greatest in Tupperware is miles ahead of just 10 years ago, and when I'm working with a pistol hanging off my hip or chest every day, I don't mind the idea of it being lighter. Individual preferences are what makes our world interesting, but if you haven't tried a Gen5 (or 4.5 in the 19x's case) yet, it might be worth your time. Maybe you'll find there's one you like after all.

RCAF=Royal Canadian Air Force

I'm not sure what you are driving at? My spell or what?
Read another way my statement could say:

Our entire military is a token; not just the RCAF, but especially the RCAF.

With respect to Glocks:
Glocks Work. Lots of guys can slam them for the blocky lack of design, or craptastic striker fired trigger, or other subjective stuff there is no lack of, but when it all boils down in the end they are a great choice.
They are the AR of the pistol world.

No they are the AK-47 of the pistol world. Simple and reliable for people who are reliably simple.

Well I think calling the Glock the AR of the pistol world is a stretch. About the only thing the Gen5 Glock has in common with the previous four generations is the fact all five generations resemble each other. The latest version has a redesigned barrel, slide and frame and a new trigger group. All that said it is a reliable pistol as are virtually every other striker fired pistol in the market today.

I believe the Government's decision will be based on three things, how much of a kick back the Liberal party can squeeze out of the contract, price and if it is the Sig 320. The latter only makes sense. It is what the US Forces settled on. I also believe the decision was deferred because Trudeau and Co did not want to spend the money and the ruling only facilitated the cover for the deferment.

Simple, easy to work on, swap parts without any real knowledge or too many specialized tools, upgrade to your hearts content.
With exception of one or two pin locking block, the Glock went largely unchanged from Gen 1 through 4.
Sure, you have differing sized frames much like AR-15 and AR-10 designs, but the comparison is pretty close...about as close as you can get.
AK? That is like a Tokerev, lol

The Gen 5 is a completely ne gun that looks like it's predecessors. Unless give the pistols to the CAF the Sig320 is the chosen one. z It is also the best choice IMHO. CAF are not much more than an extension of the US forces anyway so we might as well run the same equipment. Hell there are State National Guards that are better equipped. It will be a cost driven decision as none of the pistols have an advantage over the other with the exception of the 320's modularity.

I heard the Canadian Government is sending the BHP pistols to Ukraine as part of a lethal weapons shipment along with rifles and machine guns . I sure hope the Ukrainian government wont hate us for sending our scrap to them .

Trudeau will send flowers (Fake) but never "lethal weapons". On the other hand, that might explain the OIC. Trudeau is God and God is clairvoyant.

Describing CAFs current fleet of BHPs as lethal weapons is an insult to Steven Segal and all the other firearms that actually work.
