An old Model 70 workhorse

I honestly think that if I was a gunsmith and somebody brought that into my shop to drill it, I’d tell them no and convince them to get something else.

I also wouldn’t have reamed out all those 300 H&H’s in the Model 70 and Browning Safari offerings to Win mag or Weatherby as so many did.

All those 300 H&H chambers they wrecked for the future care takers.

As easy as getting your wallet out?
Perhaps a protest. Upon insistence it would most likely get done.
Isn't the customer always right? Even if they are wrong?

You would think but in another thread guys were saying gunsmiths had refused to cut magnum barrels to 20 inches.

God forbid someone modify a tool to make it more effective for their uses.

From my limited experience, running my own business, some people are not worth to have as customers. For various reasons.

At 100 yards. The lowest rear sight setting is 1” low at 100. The next higher notch is 4” high. Good enough for me. Now to sling it up and then find something to kill with it.

Must be more independently wealthy gunsmiths where they are, then here?

Who knows

I can certainly understand a gunsmith refusing work based on a lack of expertise with certain firearms or techniques but refusing work you don’t personally see the need for seems like a very slippery slope

I have had a barrel maker suggest using a different guy for what I wanted because he was more talented at it and I thought it was a classy move
