Lower power bushnell elite?

It suck that all these optic companies concentrate on high powered heavy optics, I guess that is what sells these days, I realized long ago that a good 1-4x or 2-7x is all I need to hunt out to 300 meters, witch is a long shot most places in B.C.

Even "worse" - when I was growing up in 1960's, the thought was that a 4 power fixed scope was "okay" for a deer rifle - a 6 power was "too much" for the deer hunting that we did. Variable power, then, was a real "curiosity" and not actually trusted, much. Was long ago, though.

To kill a deer, have to usually put a bullet into or through an area about size of soccer ball / basket ball - anywhere in that area and the deer is dead. Do not have to hit a particular hair, or the eye-ball.

Looking here - the CZ Scout has fixed 4x Rimfire scope, 458 Win Mag has fixed 2.5x Leupold Ultralight, 9.3x62 has M8-3x Leupold, 338 Win Mag has M8-6x, the 7.62 AIA has fixed 12x SWFA, the CG63 has fixed M8-12x Leupold, a No. 4 in 303 British has a Weaver K3, and so on. Although others do have variable power scopes. And some have aperture sights.

Bushnell made 'Scopechief' scopes in 2.5-8 power. I like Scopechief scopes.

bushnell elite 6500 1.25 8x32

This is a great sized scope, but I've been struggling to find a rifle and mount that works with it's unusually long eye relief... I think it's about 5". The relief is not long enough to mount in a scout setup, and in standard mounts, moved as far forward, I still haven't gotten a comfortable view. My next attempt is going to be with a pair of extended rings to move it slightly more forward.

I've really been trying to put this scope to use as I like the 6500's very much, and this mag range in particular.

An easy no cost way to push the optic further forward is to change the angle of your shoulders and square your shoulder stance towards the target.... might not be enough but worth a try!

I have/had several Japanese-made Elite 3500/4500/6500 series scopes. My favourite is the Elite 3500 2-7x32. Handy and bulletproof. I am always on the lookout for another. The "new old stock" has pretty much dried up now, though I know of at least one source that has 3-9x50 3500's for a very good price.
