t3x vs x-bolt

I bought a X-bolt in 300wsm when the x-bolts first came out, still own it, it shoots great and still love it. But the way the hobby has grown for me since, nothing I buy now stays in original form for long anymore and for that reason alone I would go with the Tikka the aftermarket options and availability is easily 10 to 1 over Browning.

I own both. Xbolt shoulders better, tikka has a better trigger and action. Accuracy is the same. Go with whichever you can get cheaper, I recommend both.

Xbolts adjustable trigger is just as good as Tikka IMO.

I use both adjusted to 2.5 lbs. I can find any difference.

If you have both side by side and your using it strictly for hunting, the Xbolt SS stalker is much nicer fit and finish.
Other than that both are equal, to me.

If your punching out 60 or so rounds at a target session ,weekly, then Tikka with a heavy barrel.

I've had both in many offerings. I only have X Bolts and a bolts in my safe now. I'm a short action guy and I cant get past the Tikkas and there short action calibers in a long action build. With the new 15 dollar MCARBO spring upgrades which are super easy to do yourself the X Bolt trigger beats out the tikkas any day!! I also feel that browning holds value a lot better and fit and finish is way nicer on the Browning. I think the A Bolt 2 in Short action was Brownings Best offering yet and good aftermarket support for them!!

Tikka is a good rifle but my personal opinion is get the Browning!!!!!

I know it's Saturday evening and many of us like to have a few drinks but the above statement leads me to believe you're three sheets to the wind! ;)

Joking aside, I've owned both and they're both great rifles. Ford vs Chevy.

Chevy beats the Ford, all day and everyday.

I don't see the point in getting a short action cartridge and getting a standard length action. Browning all the way on that point alone. :)

This was my reasoning as well. A .308 gains nothing in a long action. The alternative is a .30-06, which brings a bit more horsepower to the table and gives up nothing except a bit of recoil. It's not even any more expensive in general.

I also have the MCARBO trigger spring in my X-Bolt. 1 pound, 14 ounces. Glorious.

I’ve never seen anybody on here post a picture or say that there 30 06 could or did print an sub MOA 5 round group at 100 yards.
Now I’m not saying it can’t, buttt in the 9 years I’ve been a member, I haven’t seen one sub MOA 5 round group from a 3006.

Now don’t be taking any hissy fits.. ok .. lol

And I’m on here a lot.

Most often people i know who shoot 30-06 are a 3 shots a year deer hunter type that bought 3 boxes in 1998 on sale at Kmart and still have a few rounds left.

The type going for pinhole sized groups tend to be either the "latest greatest 6.5 super ultra smasher magnum" pushing max fps in their custom chassis sniper rifle or the obscure wildcat handload tester with 27 years of hand written load data for their old full wood mannlicher–schönauer.

Not saying anything is wrong with either, but the 30-06 just isn't exciting for either group.

I have a Tikka super ultra smasher and it’s chambered in a 7.5 magnum.. lol

I think I might get me one of those sniper chassis, see if I can tighten them groups up another couple of points.lol

But i do know what mean by the 3 shots a year, most can’t hit the broad side of a barn at 50 paces.

My brother is one of them.
Id say the cheap basterd is still using the same box of cartridges from 2010. Lol

What's this got to do with tikka vs browning? lol

Not much really, I just like to talk trash about 30 06 , in a jokingly kind of way.

I really don’t care what ya shoot, I just like to kid around.

And even though I’m shooting a Tikka right now and it a very nice rifle, it still a couple notches below the browning.
The two things the Tikka has going for it are aftermarket support and I find them a bit more accurate at the bench.

Hunting,both are quite capable.

I see. I don't own a 30-06 or a 308 at the moment. I have seen some very accurate 06 rifles though. Maybe not as accurate as a 308 on average but still very accurate. I think accuracy has more to do with the barrel. Anyhow both tikka and browning are fine rifles, but I would go with the browning in 308 for the short action.

I don’t mind the Tikka medium action as I can’t really tell the difference anyway.

I’m now regretting selling my Browning Xbolt SS stalker ,7mm Rem mag.
