Picture of the day

You can blame that on a Canadian/American. From Ottawa. after acquiring a captured M14 he started using it. He was shown using it on the evening news. shooting a sniper that could not be reached with the m4's. Veterans started calling their congressmen and senators asking why their kids didn't have m14s.

On a patrol in Zangabad are in 2011 an ODA cat took out a Taliban a$$&Ole with his short barrel M4 at over 400m. Later that night he says he's never gonna find himself relying on a 5.56 at distance again and he goes and grabs an M14 EBR from thier (substantial) armamentn sea container. He re rigs all his gear to 7.62 and the next day takes her out on a patrol. When he came back in he went straight back to the M4. Said the M14 felt like carrying a boat anchor in comparison Laugh2 (of interest is that they deployed with 2 main personal weapons. They each had thier ar and also a SCAR. I spent months patrolling with them and they all chose the M4.)

Likely a staged propaganda photo-op. All women in traditional garb and head scarfs does not sound like a viable fighting force. Finger on trigger is classic.

What else are we seeing in that photo beside the STG-44?

I'm seeing:
- AR-10
- Hakim
- M-14
- Carcano M91/38
- VZ-52 (?)
- Rasheed
- A Mauser of a type I'm not sure (totally not up on Mausers and derivatives)
- and that one in the foreground with all the notches in the barrel shroud - what is that?

Depends on which side of Irish you're on .

Grizz

Hi Grizz,

I don't believe you can equate the other Irish 'issues' with either a pro or anti Nazi stance in WWII (please educate me if I'm wrong).

Was merely pointing out that not every nation we'd consider 'allies' took a hard stance, or fought for the Allies during the war.

Being of Irish background, I'm somewhat embarrassed by the history. As such fierce fighters I believe the Irish could have greatly aided the Allies.
