The T97 Thread!

It is, nothing civilian in the T97, they took years of field use findings and ended up at this point. Youtube is full of them going thru thousands of rounds with little to no wear signs never mind breakage. But in reality debating what platform is more reliable is really not a fruitful debate.

I already have a 3D printer, so any plastic iteration is no problem. It just feels flimsy and not solid like aluminum. It could be done with a small cnc mill, but I wonder if it could be made with hand tools.

Have you taken apart a T97? Nothing but Mil Spec metal for the bolt parts. Anyone ever hear of a T97 or Tavor breaking inside? I have not.

Have you taken apart the Gen2s or 3s? The side charging handle is definitely a weak point of the design. It's the only part of the gun I can see wearing out and snapping off.

Odd, seems pretty beefy to me, I helped my buddy swap his to the left. I have never read or heard of one ever breaking, any else heard of one ever breaking. Can't see the Chinese fielding these to the PLA if they couldn't #### the firearm.

It's non-reciprocating, so doesn't get abused all that much more than the trigger bow.
Some enterprising young pup might 3D print a few just in case...

The poly knob is firmly embedded in the metal piece that bolts up internally. Cannot imagine how a person could possibly break one with the metal reaching so far into the cocking knob body.

Have you taken one apart? If you've ever seen the buckle on an old US ALICE magazine pouch, picture that with a screw driven up between the thin prongs to keep them from pinching together.

No, I have a Gen1. When my friend got a Gen2 we detail stripped it to see what the differences were. Between lockdowns and ammo shortages I don't think anyone has even had much opportunity to put these to particularly hard use to find out.

Took my brand new gen 3 out yesterday and the gas regulator shot off the bloody thing along with the piston and spring. Hoping North Sylva can replace the regulator, however haven't read many great reviews on the importer concerning part availability.

Anyone have any experience with them recently?

Cheers.

Yikes! More info please!

1. Did it happen on the first shot?

2. At what setting was the gas regulator set-to when you fired it? (My new-in-the-box T97 arrived two weeks ago and it was set to 0 (OFF) ... in the middle between 1 (NORMAL) & 2 (ADVERSE/DIRTY) ... and so I moved it to the #1 position, as I had read about on another forum somewhere.)

I have not yet fired it. My local range is snowed-in and closed.

Thanks!

First I have ever heard of this. Did disassemble and inspect the gun before shooting it?

Yes i did a basic strip to understand how it functions, didn't mess with the gas block at all though. Had an ejection issue with those few rounds as well where the cartridge would be stuck to the bolt and not eject.

Did i just get a lemon?
Very frustrated.

Odd, we have put lots thru my buddy's with zero issues, in fact he has never cleaned it either, he just hands it to us to shoot and says have at er. The only thing he had to do was do a slight filing on the splines of some poly magazines, all GI metal mags work fine as the Cross Mags. We do not pamper it is his truck/bush gun does not have a safe queen existence.

Update:

Contacted George at North Sylva and he was able to procure the parts, all around great customer service experience. Gun is functioning properly after replacing gas block components. Highly recommend reaching out regarding spare parts/replacements...
