Show off your Browning Superposed

I thought those 1958 Browning catalogue pages might be interesting to share

For chitz and giggles I picked the Superposed with the X-tra set of barrels in a Gr-VI Lightning and went to the BOC Inflation calculator and that $1325/1958 came to $12,835.00 in 2022.
Not sure what they would sell for today with the advanced machining process, but would like to think the owning experience would still be there.
I have said it before that catalogue brought back some fun memories of yore that kept me interested in the Browning name.

I wish I had pictures of the two Broadway Traps I owned. One was a Mint condition Lightning Grade and the other a Limited Edition John Moses Special 1 of 750 to commemorate 50 years of the Superposed. The JMS had one box fired through it... Should have kept them both! Sold the Lightning to a fellow in Modesto, California and the JMS I sold to a Browning collector in Oklahoma...

I wish you had pics too Frank. I've never seen a John Moses Browning Broadway and I can't even find any pics on the google of one. Was it all gussied up and fancy?
I'm in Mexico right now so I don't have access to my Blue book or any other references.

It came out of Europe. A fellow I used to shoot with bought it new in box unfired from a fellow in the RCAF who had won it in a raffle at a gun club in Germany when he was posted there. The fellow shot one round of trap with it and tucked it away. He was a skeet shooter, not trap. His 14 year old daughter had passed away from cancer and he came out to the club one day after a few years hiatus with life back on track again and expressed interest in selling the gun so I bought it. I never fired it and a few months passed and I decided to sell it. It had satin oil finished stocks with nicely figured wood. The trigger guard wore the gold embossed Browning Buckmark Logo. My memory tells me there was a small gold buckmark in the rear lower corners of each side of the receiver and the receiver edges were bordered with a thin embossed gold wire edging. On the underside of the receiver was "John Moses Special 1 Of 750.....it was a beautiful gun that was not over embellished...it had 30" barrels with fixed F over M chokes...At the time it was hard to say no to the sale as I wanted to put the $ into a new Kolar which I never did end up buying....I should have kept it! LOL

I was hoping there would be pictures here from this old ad someone in the UK had one for sale.....

Sounds intriguing Frank.

I found this ad in the UK. It might be the same gun in the ad that you found only this one has pics.

Great looking gun!

Yes that is it but mine was much prettier, lol. It had lighter medium brown satin finished wood with some nice figure and all the stampings were in gold. Seeing it reminded me mine was #325 or 349?. That gun has seen some use! The wood looks to have been refinished with a real dark stain and the gold fill is worn right off along with lots of bluing but mine was as NIB as it can get with only having fired one box of ammo put away packed in grease for a total of 23 years before seeing the light of day. They were released in 1982, the 50th Anniversary of the Superposed. The original owner never shot or assembled the gun. He had it for about 8 years before selling it to my buddy who assembled it, shot one round, regreased it and put it back in the box another 15 years!

Thanks for sharing your photos.

You are correct, it is a 1955 manufacture date, as the serial number range for that year of production is listed as approximately serial numbers 43001 to 48000.

As to valuation, these older Browning grade 1 standard weight model superposed don't tend to bring the money they use to. People looking for a shooter type gun vs a collector piece all want screw in chokes to use steel shot these days to increase the versatility of the gun.

Based on a subjective view of the condition of your shotgun using only the photos, its value would be approximately between $1,000 to $1,400.

Skeet/Skeet guns move fairly quick. Full/Mod guns that can't shoot steel are a tough sell.

V3 is 1963
The best summary of firearm serial numbers is the NRA Museum Serialization chart.

Thank you.

Was told diana, so jumped on it without seeing it but just a gr1
But very good condition

The only issue with the USA is the selection is huge compared to here here they are a oddity and in the USA they are come place . O ya and the USA shotgun culture compares to the very small amount of people in this country that would even consider buying a high grade superposed . The priceing on ee with some 10,000 views is basically embarrassing certainly shows the seller has very little experience with marketing direarbms .

100%
Some of the guns sitting here on the ee would sell in a couple hrs in the states.
If I was selling something high end I would be advertising on gunbroker and using prophet river to export.
