I had a Nightforce SHV 5-20×56 MOAR Riflescope – C535, on my rifle, and with covid i sold it due to not really going out to the range too much.(or not at all for that matter) i want to buy another one, but im not sure if i want to drop 1700+ on the same one. anyone know of something similar i could run with for the 1 k mark?

What do you do with your rifle? Nightforce’s reputation now seems a bit over hyped to me, especially in their lower models. I suppose it really depends how physically tough you need your optic to be. Features, precision, glass quality, and toughness required are what I use to figure out my solutions. If your budget is hard at $1K I would go with less features, less magnification, good glass and tough for hunting. Think used Bushnell or Leopold. For the range, a Vortex Strike Eagle or Venom, maybe an Athlon at the same price point, or the several other random brands popping up that are probably made in the same factories.

It just for target shooting, I don't hunt its just a paper plinker lol. I Have been looking all weekend. but really cant decide on something different. Might have to go to cabelas and go have a look.

For under $1k Jerry @ Mystic seems to really like the new 6-24 Athlon Helos BTR gen 2.
The Arken EP5 that's coming into Canada in a month or so is rather intriguing for ~$900. Seems to get decent reviews states-side. The Arken SH4 is another option for a little less money, most reviews seem positive.
For a little over $1k I'd look at the Delta Javelin and Athlon 5-25 Midas Tac. I have the Midas Tac, and it's a good scope. Decent glass, tracks really reliably, and has decent turrets for the price.

I also would take a look at the Delta Javelin. I picked one up from Hirsch Precision and am very happy with this scope...34mm main tube, 56mm objective, illuminated reticle, nice turrets, parallax adjusts down to 25 yds, and comes in two different reticles. Also has a zero stop and locking turrets....lots of features for this price range. Have only read positive reviews on this scope. Good luck with whatever you choose.

This would be something to look into.

For $1k, I’d be looking in the used market. PST gen 1 or maybe gen2. Saw a few Steiner p4xI 4-16x come up for around there. Getting very close to top tier with those. (I’ve got one that I love for the price)
Sightron are great optics. No bells and whistles, but fat turrets and zero stop have nothing to do with the glass quality.

The Delta Styker HD is one of the best scopes you can get for the money, Do some research on this scope!!! that's all I can say.

I'd sooner be looking at a new strike eagle 5-25 or venom 5-25 than even remotely considering a PST gen 1. The gen 2 is great.

The ONLY good thing about a gen 1, is that WHEN it breaks, you get a gen 2.

I've heard good things about the Venom and better things about the Strike Eagle or Match Pro, and my own Strike Eagle is really nice to use despite being the older 4-24x version. The only thing I feel it lacks compared to a scope at 2x the cost would be turret feedback. And of course the warranty is nice.

I've never compared to a Nightforce though, that sub-$1k market is where I tend to focus on.
