New IDPA rule book effective June 2022

Summary of changes includes (but not limited to):

-- appendix carry now allowed
-- penalties only apply to shooting actions; non-shooting actions cannot be penalized
-- shooter cannot be required to move
-- shooting 'from retention' standardized and defined
-- CCP division capacity increased to 10 rounds
-- no penalty when a shooter re-engages targets from another position within the stage
-- no penalty when a shooter re-engages freestyle after a required strong/weak hand only
-- ammunition feeding devices without rounds do not need to be retained
-- partial magazines do not need to be retained when magazines start staged at the shooting position and the shooter does not leave the position
-- fault lines are to be 3 ft to 8 ft in length, and no longer extend to stage boundary
-- ammunition carriers not required, pockets or belt may be used

IPSC shooter here that is curious about IDPA schedules, particularly in AB, BC, and SK. Can anyone name the organizations in these three provinces for me, and does anyone know if or when a nationals in Canada takes place? Thanks in advance!

Not a fan of re- engaging on sho/who,,, kind of defeats the whole purpose of sho/who. I think it detracts from a skill set that we should all be proficient in and try to improve upon. Just my opinion, but I see a scenario where it’s throw a few downrange quickly with out caring about hits and re- engage freestyle. Too easy to game it

Every time you choose to re-engage, you're taking more time and using more rounds you might need elsewhere. Unless you missed entirely or made poor hits, re-engagement is typically a losing proposition.

In Alberta it is the Alberta Tactical Handgun League (ATHL). Not sure about Nationals, if, when, or where. Sorry that isn't super helpful!

Even then, it takes your attention away from where you should be, to where you were. Ultimately it's really only worth it to pick up a total miss if you can, because by the time you process that you have some hits to make up, you're already behind the clock. I think that scoring system makes a lot of sense.

There will never be a nationals in Canada only the US.

Not really.

I went to 2 Nats in PA and then it went south and hasn't been north since. They said 2 years south and then 2 years north - never happened.

Tyhe first Worlds was in Florida in September of the year and it rained the whole time. One van had a target with NO WAKE ZONE on a target. They didn't that it was hurricane season.

There is no reason for there not to be. That said the practicality of such an event in highly unlikely.

I shoot Revolver occasionally in IDPA. There does not seem to be any rules as it relates to where you can place your speedloaders or moon clip holsters, as was the case in the past. If I have missed it please direct me to the rule. I ask because you can buy IDPA moon clip holders that will hold three moon clips of 40cal. In the absence of a rule I will be placing three moon clips in front of my holster.

For revolver Division you are limited to 18 rounds in clips or speedloaders and 6 rounds in your revolver for ESR and SSR Divisions.
