I'm an old guy who prefers revolvers, but have had a few 9mm. pistols over the past 40 or so years including Ruger, Glock and others.
I currently have a CZ P-10F and I think it's a great, solidly built pistol for the money.
I have fairly big hands and find the little extra grip length is fine, and it lets me park my little finger firmly on the grip frame, rather than curling it out of the way below the magazine. I find it to be an accurate pistol with the factory 3 dot sights, it has good ergonomics with a very short rigger reset and can be set up to accommodate both right and left handed shooters as it has a reversible magazine release and an ambidextrous slide release. It also comes with a choice of 3 backstrap profiles.
It is a bit big for concealed carry, but we are in Canada so can't be trusted for that by our overlords.
They show up used for a decent price fairly often and I'd say that if you find one and the fit, feel and price suit you then go for it.
Well geez, if you guys wouldn't take one for free or whatever crazy low amount just send it my way.
...OP, have you priced out ammo? Would you be buying ammo in little 50-round boxes, or a case of 1000 at a time? Check out the cost.
People crap on .22s but you can develop better fundamentals at a much lower operating cost by buying a .22LR handgun. Give it a little thought.
I have about 30 different 9mm pistols. Best bang for the buck is the Canik.
Excellent trigger. better than average accuracy. Reliable.
You can get a good one for less than $500

Couldn't agree more - If you shoot even a modest amount of any centerfire your ammunition cost will very quickly eclipse what you spent on the pistol.
If you want to learn to shoot pistol, 22LR is absolutely the way to go. The pistols are not necessarily cheaper than centerfire, but the ammunition sure is.
To complicate matters worse, you could get that .357, and shoot the mild .38 Special in it.
...I am really looking at Marstar now though for the TP9SF. ....

oh lord my brain
some days I wish I was rich, I wouldn't debate it at all, BUY IT ALL! hahah
I am really looking at Marstar now though for the TP9SF. Looks like a decent in between, not complete jank, but hasn't gotten all the bells and whistles like a CZ P10 SC would presumably.
Definitely!… I'm glad I did, because I think the Canik will be an excellent decision over the SD9 VE.

... I decided to go with a Canik TP9SF for $600.....
Enjoy, and let us know how it turns out for you.
I've shot the s&w sd9 very.
It's cheap for a reason! Because it's junk. It grouped around 6" wide at 20 yards.
The slide has tons of play....hell. the whole pistol has tons of play in it.
You're far far better off getting a surplus cz or beretta.
You can find parts for them almost anywhere as well.
