6 new F and W officer's... new Sheriffs in town

I would tend to agree with stubble jumper.. I think the most dangerous part of hunting is the start and finish... it is like work isn't the dangerous part... It's the drive to and from.
The muzzle is usually pointing somewhere that is concerning at some point when mounting or dismounting from a vehicle

Meh. I know a guy who shot his torque converter, and another who put a hole through the hood of his pickup shooting off it. Being a bad example is useful to the rest of us, and we already have more than enough rules and regs. - dan

Not arguing LoL. Shot 90% of my Gophers out of a truck window, if truth be told. Once it's loaded, hanging and pointed out there...kinda hard to shoot anything but a gopher.
So I'm sure as hell not shaking my finger...just saying " This gonna be a thing "
We probably want to stay away from logic and common sense... because if they reigned Supreme, I wouldn't be just shooting 41 LC down by the dugout...be shooting 45 LC too.
Explained that to a lady once... "this Colt here...perfectly fine. This one here...dangerous to society... very bad"
She looked at me like I'd been sniffing bleach.

Not certain enough to drop the gloves, but is there back story here?
Like 'Show us on the doll where the bad man touched you'?
I know a couple; one is F & W and oneis a CO...neither seems like a window licker.

I think perhaps Bad Bob not only couldn't become a Mountie, but also couldn't get in as a Fish Cop.

Quote I remember from a Senior fish Cop, the law is black and white, the application is grey and requires common sense.

Exactly, Dan, you can't legislate idiocy out of the equation.
I remember an instance where a couple of fellas were shooting in a gravel pit with a .22 with a scope on it, leaning across the hood of a truck.
shells were sounding a bit strange on the closer shots.Yup, nice creases in the opposite side of the hood!

I was not aware there was much of a fishery in SE Alberta.

Other than Cypress Hills PP and maybe along the South Saskatchewan River.

To justify 6 new staff??

My high school teacher did that to a really sweet Bronco. He was quite embarrassed as he fancied himself a Skilled Hunter. Someone should start an AD thread...I know a few stories.
Constable R. Youngman... a decent fellow it's said. But he was teaching Hunter safety locally and shot himself in the foot with a shotgun...that's gotta leave a mark!

Pretty much how the guy I knew did it as well. But it was 7 rem Mag, and the truck was one of those Chev square bodies with that pronounced ridge down the center. Whoops. - dan

I am actually just watching. A few people on here seem to have problems with them...I do not. Even the young, right out of school fellows...they are gonna be eager to get busy.
Uh-uh... I'm not your guy to debate with friend

Fair enough. If people would have read my post (#22) closely they would have realized that I never said I had a problem with anyone, I simply made a comment based on years of actual experience. Never said "all" either, said " a lot", and yes there are good ones.

My son's high school buddy is running the show in Maple Creek...good guy. He didn't wash out of RCMP school...he wanted to be a Game Warden. Good on him.

So, based on that logic we need to ban guns, vehicles and children, right? - dan

His same logic is that of the left and they use it to ban guns.... They use the same BS of "knowing injured children" and wanna create a nanny state. Some guys on here seem to "get off" on preaching the regs, wildlife acts, city ordinances and any other rule they can find. They cant make a decision on their own, they need the Govt control to make it through the day.

This video is how its done in a free State unlike Alberta where some individuals rat on you for shooting a gopher off your truck box.

A lot of these guys take those jobs because they couldn`t make it as real LEOs ie: RCMP or big city cops. They are often hung up on their own self importance and are often over zealous, over officious and seem to enjoy their "authority" a little too much. I suspect they were the kids in school that were bullied and had their lunch money taken from them. Best to be very cautious and not give them any reason to flex their muscle on you.

F & W is a higher level of training and education than police. Every F & W I have met is reasonable and chill, but they apply the laws they are to enforce very aggressively. Speeders drop into your lap, a F&W investigation is time consuming and there is only 70ish officers for the province.
